• Pride and Politics | 2020 Perspectives
    Jun 29 2024

The way I managed to get this episode out before July is crazy to me.

But when I say I will do three episodes a month, I do my darndest to make that happen.

And also I really wanted to talk with my friend Aiden after literal AGES.

What better way to catch up than to talk about the highly politicized topic of LGBTQ+ identity on the day of the first presidential debate of the 2024 election?

Anyway, feel free to share YOUR story of living and growing as an adult in a post-pandemic would by emailing or DMing me on instagram.

Til next time, go live life lavish <3

  • Juneteenth With M'Kayla | 2020 Perspectives
    Jun 19 2024

America loves freedom, but this country was not really free until June 19th, 1865 when the last slave was emancipated in the south.

Juneteenth only became a national holiday in 2021... a year after the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

Truly 2020 was a fever dream on SO many levels.

My friend M'Kayla talks about what 2020 was like for her as well as a what Juneteenth means to her.

  • The Graduate | Movie of the Month
    Jun 6 2024

It's graduation season! Shireen and I are in varying degrees of anxiety. You know who else is lost in the void of impending adulthood? Benjamin Braddock in Mike Nichols' CLASSIC film The Graduate.

Shireen and I get into it and the sound of silence in this episode is filled with my computer overheating... sorry, that's on me :(

  • Challengers | Movie of the Month
    May 26 2024

Is tennis really a relationship, or is that just a bunch of words strung together because they sound profound?

Shireen and I get into it and nitpick the popular film Challengers in May's Movie of the Month!

  • Balancing Passion and Profession | 2020 Perspectives
    May 21 2024

Capping off this trilogy of job-related conversations is Tyler Cadenas. He is a filmmaker and computer science major among other things (singer, guitar player, basketball player etc). But he is also in tune with what he wants in life which is why he won't be becoming a professional filmmaker.

Find out why in this episode! Also listen to the previous two episodes to hear what Dr. Meg Jay and my friend Yaa have to say about post-graduation job hunting, anxiety, and the struuuuuuugle.

  • Graduating? You Need to Listen to This | Dr. Meg Jay
    May 15 2024

April finals bring May (graduation) laurels... I know it doesn't rhyme but that's the best I can do :)

Psychologist and author Dr. Meg Jay joins me on the podcast to essentially ease the fears any 20-something might have when about to enter a new stage of their life.

Dr. Jay is the author of The Defining Decade and The Twenty-Something Treatment. Both books take a deep dive into the lives of twenty-somethings as they go through this monumental time.

Needless to say, I NEEDED to talk with Dr. Jay.

If you are, ever have been, or ever will be in your twenties (hopefully all of you), you HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS EPISODE!

  • Job Hunting | 2020 Perspectives
    Apr 30 2024

It's been a minute since my last episode, but a lot has happened! The class of 2020 is now the class of 2024 which is really weird to think about AND scary considering a lot of us don't have jobs (myself included). So, this episode we talk about the struggles of trying to get a job in a post-pandemic world while also keeping the hope for a career we are passionate about.

  • Quiet on Set | Movie of the Month
    Apr 18 2024

If you've been on social media or watching the news AT ALL, you've probably heard about the HBO docuseries Quiet on Set.

It's a wild ride but also a bit lacking in some regards. Shireen and I break it all down in April's Movie of the Month!

Content warning: we do discuss sexual abuse so please take care of yourself before listening if the topic is a sensitive one for you <3
