  • 6 seconds - How long your CV is studied by a recruiter/hiring manager
    Jan 31 2023

Recruiters and hiring managers have hundreds of CV's to go through when it comes to job roles. The more sought after the company or role the higher this goes. Unfortunately this means that they will not have time to read your lovely cover letter or blurb about you being a team player.

They will scan your CV like a terminator looking for key words from the job brief. If they're not there its going straight into the 'rejects' pile.

We've got some quick tips in order to get through this 6 second stage and make it to the re-read stage (60 seconds).

    Good luck!

  • Preparing for employees maternity leave: 3 Tips
    Jan 23 2023

Maternity leave is such an exciting time for your employees. Depending on the country they'll be gone for 52 weeks - which is a lot of work to cover.  Always make sure you're prepared, well in advance to make their life as comfortable as possible.  - Prepare before hand, get the full picture of their current projects and daily tasks (what you think they do and what they actually do will differ) - GET COVER for their role, do NOT dump the workload on the rest of your staff. It will erode their morale massively and worse; they will resent your staff taking maternity cover. There are companies out there that specialise in this, use them if you're getting stuck.  - Involve the employee in the selection process for their cover.  - Handover week, get the cover to come in early to shadow the role they will be doing, have them complete a brief of projects and tasks done so that the maternity leave will have a quicker time getting back into the swing of things  If you would like us to cover any topic on HR or Recruitment for you we can ask our 30 specialists to put together a video just for you, just drop a comment.

  • Advice for Hiring Managers - a sit down with Julie
    Jan 23 2023

Julie is one of the oldest members of our hero team here. She will be switching over to branding for the company so we can tap all that wisdom she has. So we had a sit down and asked her the 3 biggest tips for hiring managers.

    1. Budget - if you're not offering enough this simply wont work.

    2. Network - common mistake is that people don't utilise their networks correctly - you would be so surprised to see where hero talent can be found.

    3. Keep the hiring process efficient - A month is long enough to conduct interviews and to screen, any longer and you may be neglecting decent talent who will go to a competitor who is more on the ball.
