    Episode 58: Conquer your fears!

“Fiddlin' Fred” Mayer, PhD is a string teacher, ensemble director, instrument designer and builder, and active musical performer. On 5-string viola, an instrument he designed and manufactured, Fred has played with too many bands to mention, none of which anyone has heard of, nor cares about. The only thing that matters is that his music lifts the spirits of those within earshot.
Fred is also an organic farmer, running his own farm operation from 2006-2017 and in addition to his musical activities, has worked at numerous food and medicine producing grows. Lately he has parlayed his organic farming skills to become a garden coach; helping new homesteaders establish their gardens, green-up their thumbs, and show home gardeners how to boost their backyard yields. He maintains his personal production and 'laboratory' gardens at his home in the Ozark Mountains of NW Arkansas.

Episode 56: Part 1 of the SideHustle "Best of" series

    Episode Description:
This week we are going to celebrate the last year with a "best of" episode. Let's take a look back at some of my favorite moments during my interviews with Dr. Erica Adkins, Michael Rowell, Laura Sapal, Linda Frazee, Chris Misterek, Tara Grieb, and Mary Fain Brandt. Enjoy!

    Episode Highlights:
5:05 We are in this process of becoming. Nobody comes 'ready made'. So if we can lean into the power of "becoming", we are better positioned to grow into the leader we want to be tomorrow.

14:30 You're already in a box already, whether you know it or not. What the Enneagram does is open doors and windows and give you access to find yourself. If you work it you'll be able to embrace the unfolding of your personality and less shame. To be the best version of yourself that you came here to be.

28:29 Being authentic is being your true self 24/7. If you're splitting your personality between two different types of people, one online and one in person, than you're not being authentic.

    Episode Description:

His company is on the cutting edge of optimizing the credentialed professional. Tune in to hear about the endless possibilities!

    Episode Highlights:
15:34 If we're not learning new things, if we're not expanding our own abilities and our own vistas, and in terms of where we want to go, then, then we're not growing. And the very definition of not growing is dying.

20:19 Meditation and mindfulness and really incorporating that into a daily practice, I think it really has helped me flex my compassion muscle and my ability to see things from somebody else's perspective a lot faster than I used to is probably the biggest reward. And, and it's also shown me that often we're really wrong with our assumptions.

44:04 And the real power of that was keeping a promise to yourself. When you keep a promise to yourself, it changes your relationship with yourself. You start to like yourself and trust yourself again, and then you can take on bigger and bigger things.

  • From Zero Skills to Self Made Web Designer
    Feb 17 2022

For more details on this podcast visit: https://www.sidehustlelounge.com/blog/ep54

Episode 54: Another angle to making money online through web design.

Chris is a self-taught UX/web designer that works for a tech startup in Arizona. BUT, he didn’t start there.

For 13 years he was basically a full-time musician. While he loved his full-time job it became clear that he would need to make more money to support his 3 daughters as a single dad.

That’s when he turned to web design. He started learning everything he could about 5 years ago and then began freelancing in his free time shortly after. That led him to where he is today.

Now, instead of freelancing in his spare time he teaches other people how to take the same path he did at selfmadewebdesigner.com and with his podcast with the same name.

He loves helping people finding break through in their lives through the gig economy and has devoted himself to helping others find the life change he has through web design.

Free Web Designer Starter kit course HERE.

    Episode Description:
You gotta meet Chris Misterek who, after an abrupt divorce, had to find a way to supplement his income. He tought himself web development and design, and quadrupled his W-2 earnings within two years. Now, Chris believes ANYONE can do this work with the right guidance, mindset, and training. Have a laptop? Build a business you can run from anywhere in the world!

    Episode Highlights:
5:07 My encouragement to everybody who's thinking about getting into web development is just go easy on yourself in those first few months and realize that once you get over that hump, it becomes a lot easier.

16:47 Eventually it's going to be that every single company is going to have an app that is associated with their business. It's important to kind of get in on these trends now. People often ask me, am I too late? Am I too late to become a web designer? And, and the answer very simply is absolutely not!

19:47 The the way to make a significant amount of money per project is to become the consultant. To help people with the whole idea of how their website is going to help their business grow and move forward.

Episode 53: New possibilities in the real estate market.

Adrian Smude has been investing in real estate since he became an accidental landlord in 2002. Adrian attempted to invest again, but his second home ended as a short sale. After 11 years of being a hobby landlord, he discovered his passion for real estate through REIA meetings. Adrian switched his investing niche to Mobile Homes with Land and has been following this path ever since. He is a part of 3 masterminds, including a high level mastermind which he hosts. In addition, he helps facilitate his local REIA, and teaches about his success and failures.

Go to AdrianSmude.com to connect with him and find his new book!

    Episode Description:
Looking for cash flow? Check out this niche within a niche in the real estate investment realm with , Adrian Smude. Plus, Adrian shares how credentialed professionals, such as mobile notaries, can be valuable bird dogs for investors like him.

    Episode Highlights:
7:17 We have stuck to this middle area that seems to be this like forgotten, hidden class within the mobile homes. The single unit with the dirt. So it is a real estate transaction, buying the home and land together.

14:31 It's still going to have cash flow. Not as much as the older ones, but it's my lotto ticket. I go to it because it's in the path of progress and I'm hoping a developer one day is gonna offer me multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars for just the land and build a three quarter million dollar house. But if they don't, I have cash flow!

36:43 Take action and ask for help. Seasoned investors wanna help people that are actually taking action and not just talking about it, and talking about it, and talking about it. Take some action! And then next time you go back and talk to a whoever you're asking advice from say, ‘Hey, I did this and this and this, but I'm lost here’. And I believe you get a lot more help that way.

    Episode Highlights:
24:47 You take each sentence and you put it into the other language. You take the freedom that you need to move the words around so that they sound natural in the other language. You want to make sure all the information is still there. You haven't changed anything, you haven't added anything, you haven't omitted anything, but you definitely have to move the words around.

28:58 The translation has to be faithful to the original document. It has to match. It has to have the same content. As translators we, we don't have the freedom to introduce new information or change information.

29:60 I teach my students to focus on fidelity, first of all, then readability and then conformity. So in each of those areas, I teach them three best practices that will help them achieve that result.
