'These girls are strong enough to follow their dreams'

  • Summary

  • Since the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, girls have been banned from receiving a high school education there. WWC's Host Megan Lee in London interviews Sofiya Suleimenova, the international affairs section editor at Harbingers', about her involvement with the Journalism Project, a collaboration between the Oxford School for the Future of Journalism and the LEARN Afghan NGO to provide online journalism lessons to Afghan girls.

Megan and Sofiya discuss the use of journalism as a way to empower voices of girls in repressive societies.

WHAT WE’LL CHANGE (WWC) is a podcast created by teenage editors of the Harbingers' Magazine for their peers. Its aim is to allow young people to discuss how we intend to shape the future. Harbingers' and WWC are supported by the Oxford School for the Future of Journalism (OXSFJ), an online journalism school for teens.
