• Episode 23 - Georgia Attlesey - Digesting Culture with Pudding
    Mar 7 2023
This episode is from the Who’s Next pre-pandemic archive from August 2019. Georgia Attlesey is a creative producer whose mission is to make big ideas more accessible through culture. Georgia is a self-described ‘culture omnivore’ and founder of Pudding, a post-event forum for audiences to digest what they’ve seen on stage. Georgia’s passion for culture is completely infectious. Although nearly four years on, her discussion about making art more accessible, meaningful, easier to digest and inclusive is just as relevant to the world today. I hope you enjoy hearing about Georgia's mission to demystify the arts sector and feel inspired to check out something new! • Episode 22 - Maddy Warren - Queen of Dialysis
    Oct 18 2021
There hasn’t been an episode for a little while, so today’s episode is a little longer than usual! It was recorded pre-pandemic with the incredible force of determination and resilience - Maddy Warren who was nominated by Deena Gornick in episode 18. Maddy is a consultant, TEDx speaker, skydiver, kidney patient advocate and she has been on dialysis for 23 years after experiencing kidney failure at the age of 14 and she has the amazing self-appointed title of Queen of Dialysis. Over the course of our conversation, I learnt so much from Maddy, not only about kidneys and self-dialysis but about courage, independence, community, resilience and not giving up on what’s important to you, regardless of the hurdles that may get in the way. I felt so inspired by Maddy and in awe of her ability to reframe even the most monumental of challenges and setbacks and I hope you will too. • Episode 20 - Jackie Scully - Kindness and Finding Your Edges
    Feb 7 2021
This is a lovely conversation with the incredibly inspiring Jackie Scully. Although recorded over a year ago, I often think about snippets of things she said in this chat and her perspective on kindness feels more relevant than ever now. Since recording this episode we've become much closer friends especially over the various lockdown, so it's really nice to listen back to one of our early conversations. Jackie is an Executive Director at Think Publishing, winner of numerous awards such as the WACL Future Leaders, Women of the Future and she has also been listed as one of the 50 leading lights in Kindness & Leadership UK. ...but I think the thing that is most interesting to me, is that despite her vast experience as a writer, editor, strategist and marketeer, the conversation we shared was very much focused around overcoming challenges that life throws in your path and focusing on building bravery, self-belief and understanding the power of kindness. Jackie has had a number of 'bumps in the road' as she calls them, from having to have her hip rebuilt to discovering she had breast cancer at the age of 32 and she discusses how this led her to reevaluate priorities and what success means to her. I hope you enjoy this episode and and are as inspired by Jackie's amazing energy and drive as I am.

  • Episode 19 - Amanda Parker - Inclusion, Empowerment and the Arts
    Jan 16 2021
This episode was recorded back in Autumn 2019 when I spoke with the brilliant Amanda Parker, who is a communications and business development specialist working across the cultural and creative sectors. Amanda has a number of different roles, she is the founder of Inc Arts which focuses on driving inclusion in the arts workforce, an RSA Fellow, the editor of Arts Professional and a board member for Film London. In our conversation we discuss her passion for driving change in the arts and championing inclusion as well as her experiences of modelling, the menopause, jealousy and even her Guinness World Record. I loved Amanda’s approach of focusing on understanding the common ground between people, being open about challenges and her immense drive to make a positive impact. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. • Episode 18 - Deena Gornick - On Confidence, Coaching and Creativity
    Nov 22 2020
My guest for this episode is the talented Deena Gornick, an executive and board level coach, facilitator and writer and since recording this back at the end of 2019 we've become good friends too - albeit remotely! I have a number of interviews like this one that were recorded last year that I have yet to release as other priorities have had to come first but it's been exciting to listen back to these conversations and reflect on them with a new light - especially after the challenges of 2020. In this episode we discuss how Deena found her calling as a coach - how she started out as an actor, but soon discovered that she enjoyed helping other people to perform and find themselves much more than she enjoyed acting. We actually ended up chatting for hours so it was really hard to cut this interview down but it's still a meaty and interesting discussion about courage, creativity and most of all the search for confidence. I hope you enjoy this episode, please subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and if you could please leave a rating and review, this all helps to get more people to hear the Who's Next stories. • Episode 17 - Samantha Clarke - How to be Happy at Work
    Oct 18 2020
My guest today is Samantha Clarke, happiness consultant, TEDx & Keynote Speaker & author of Love It or Leave It - How to be Happy at work. Sam is super passionate about improving people's happiness and helping them to make decisions about what they love and want to do more of and what they want to leave behind. We had a lovely phone chat earlier in lockdown, which I've found so useful myself to listen back to. Apologies in advance for my audio (back to my mic rather than my AirPods next time!) it's a little crackly but luckily Sam sounds great! We spoke about some topics that are particularly relevant at this time, where many people are reflecting on their work and may be experiencing flux or standstill in their careers. We discussed finding happiness in your work and life and doing an audit of what you want, listening to your inner voice and Sam shared advice to deal with envy and comparison. Sam I think has broken the record for the number of women she wanted to mention, nominate and shine a light on, I loved hearing about all the incredible women in her life (Natalie Campbell - CEO of Belu Water, Irene Moore - StartUp Mentor, Emma Gannon - author, podcaster and multi-hyphenate, Petra Velzeboer - Mental Health Advocate, Davinia Tomlinson - founder of Rainchq, Marielle Legair - Publicity and Brand Strategist, Adrienne Herbert - Wellness podcaster, author and speaker, Vanessa Belleau - Founder & Director of High Fifteen Limited and Emma Sexton - Design Entrepreneur, Creative Strategist and Business Coach!). • Episode 16 - Lizzie Edwards - Look Like the Leader You Are
    Aug 9 2020
In this episode (recorded Autumn 2019) I speak to Lizzie Edwards, Personal Stylist, Author, Speaker and Image Consultant. Lizzie was nominated by Antoinette Dale Henderson (Ep 9) who was inspired by how Lizzie helps female leaders increase their impact. It was fascinating to hear Lizzie speak about style, not from a focus of fashion, but instead as a tool of visual branding and confidence. We also spoke about personal growth, investing in yourself and not worrying what other people think. One of the key pieces of advice Lizzie gave that resonated with me about 'Progress, not perfection' and 'Done is better than perfect'. The world has changed a lot since we spoke and Lizzie's business has gone from strength to strength and she recently launched her style membership - Elevate. Follow her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/lizzieedwardsuk to find out more. References: https://www.instagram.com/lizzieedwardsuk https://www.lizzieedwards.com https://www.instagram.com/whosnextpoduk One of the quotes Lizzie touches on in the episode (don't play small!): “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? Your playing small does not serve the world.... And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ― Marianne Williamson We didn't get to cover in this episode - but some of Lizzie's book and podcast recommendations: - Fortunately podcast with Fi and Jane - Marie Forleo - Everything is Figureoutable - Arianna Huffington - Thrive - Angela Duckworth - Grit - Matthew Syed - Black Box Thinking If you enjoyed this episode - please leave a rating and review - thank you :) Follow @whosnextpoduk on Twitter and Instagram for more details!
