After three weeks of wonderful guests Martin & Patrick are on there own for a catch up.

Martin still doing well on his new Cancer treatment heads back for his 3 monthly check up and CT Scan.

Its also good news as for the first time in nearly two and a half years Martin applies for a new Job, can you guess what it is yet all will be revealed.

A new feature this week is guest Ian Trushell who is currently battling Stage 4 Bowel Cancer which has spread into the Liver.

Bowel cancer is also called colorectal cancer. It affects the large bowel, which is made up of the colon and rectum. Cancer is when abnormal cells start to divide and grow in an uncontrolled way. The cells can grow into surrounding tissues or organs, and may spread to other areas of the body.

Ian was given a two year life expectancy but he recently past that date and is continuing his battle with a positive mental attitude. Ian today describes the symptoms of Bowel and what to look out for.

Oh no, yes Martin gets his Joke of the week in this week, not sure if its a winner.

Next week we continue with our guests, Martin and Patrick attend the "Make a Wish Charity" awards ceremony and speak to some of the winning recipients.

    The Lost Roller

Today is Legend Music day and the boy's have yet again another very special guest, Nobby Clark from "The Bay City Rollers" fame

Original lead singer and founder member of The Bay City Rollers

Real name: Gordon Fraser Clark, born Edinburgh 10th September 1950.

His early success in the 1960’s and early 1970’s as lead singer and founder member of The Bay City Rollers, saw him performing lead vocals on the band’s early hits: Keep on dancing; We can make music; Manana; Remember and Saturday Night. Leaving the band in 1973 to pursue a solo career as a writer/performer, he released two singles, Steady Love on the Epic label, and Shake it down on the phonogram label.

Nobby performed Shake it down on the Claude Francois 1975 Christmas Special TV show, recorded in Paris shortly before Claude’s tragic death. Claude Francois was one of France’s most popular recording artists, notably responsible for composing the original version of My Way, amongst other wonderful memorable compositions. This television appearance opened up a new market in France for Nobby’s music, taking him on a detour into French films when in 1980 he composed the film score The Big Sky which can still be heard in French cinema’s today.

The following three years were spent managing a recording studio and rehearsal rooms in Edinburgh’s West Saville Terrace, producing many early recordings for artists who later became successful, including Billy McKenzie from The Associates.

After a spell of acting in comedy musicals, such as I’m sorry the bridge is out, you’ll have to spend the night and A slice of Saturday night. for which he received a number of complimentary reviews, including the theatrical newspaper, The Stage, Nobby took some time out to concentrate on his personal life, before setting out to write and record his first solo album for many years.

The album entitled If Only was arranged and produced by his long time friend David Paton who’s own band Pilot achieved world-wide success with songs such as Magic, January and Just a Smile to name but a few. He followed up with Going Home, also produced by David Paton. He now presents his third solo album On The Inside. All three albums contain songs that show Nobby’s depth of feeling in his lyrics and haunting melodies.

His involvement with other artists has continued, working with Kenny Herbert and Rab Howat on their last two albums 8-1-2-1-9-8-0 (to which Nobby contributed the song Slow Down) and playing harmonica and backing vocals on their latest album Songs of our Lives, produced by David Paton.

Nobby’s concern for the environment has seen him involved with various groups and committee’s investigating the best use of renewable energy in the domestic field. He has been fighting for greener areas, where over the years there has been an erosion of playing fields and open spaces. This is an issue close to Nobby’s heart.

    The Robin Cancer Trust

We have been very spoilt recently with some wonderful guests and we continue again today as we speak to founder and CEO Toby Freeman of "The Robin Cancer Trust"

Since 2012, The Robin Cancer Trust have reached tens of millions of people online, engaged with hundred of thousands of people in the community, and delivered life-saving educational talks to over 100,000 young adults in schools, colleges & businesses across the region.

The Robin Cancer Trust was founded in 2012 by the Freeman family following the untimely death of their son and brother, Robin Freeman, aged just 24.

Robin was diagnosed in the prime of his life in 2011 with a Mediastinal Germ Cell Tumour (a grapefruit-sized tumour in his chest). Following 10 months in treatment, including several rounds of chemotherapy and a stem-cell transplant, he was told there was nothing else his medical team could do. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones on December 10th 2011.

His family promised him that ‘he would never just be a photograph on the wall’ and that something good would be born of his tragedy. Robin inspires us to raise awareness, reduce embarrassment and save young lives through the early detection of germ cell cancers.

TOBY FREEMAN BCA after losing his brother Robin to a late-stage germ cell cancer diagnosis, Toby founded The Robin Cancer Trust with a mission to stop young people dying from testicular and ovarian cancers

Toby has reached millions of young adults with his life-saving cancer campaigns, delivered talks to over 20,000 people worldwide, and is a recipient of the British Citizen Award for Services to Healthcare.

Toby is a keen advocate for the young adult cancer community, giving a voice to those affected and campaigning for cancer education, engagement and empowerment.

In 2020, Toby delivered his TED Talk, Three Steps to Surviving Grief, sharing his story of losing his brother and how he learnt to channel his grief positively.

    Season II Episode 4

This week the boys are back at the local Pub (Bar) to record a casual Podcast and catch up generally on the summer months.

Martin brings us all up to date on his recent travels and an encounter with the local wildlife, while trying to enjoy a day at the seaside.

We have an update on Martins Cancer and his new challenge with weight loss and an update on the findings of his recent Diabetes examination, and new drugs suggested.

The UK is going through a bit of a heatwave at the moment so Patrick looks at how one can protect oneself from the heat, heat exhaustion and sunburn.

During heat exhaustion, your body temperature rises above normal. Heat exhaustion is less serious than other heat-related illnesses, like heat stroke. But it can progress to heat stroke. Some symptoms of heat exhaustion include nausea, dizziness, muscle cramps, and sweating more than normal.

Martin investigates the price of Travel Insurance for Cancer patients while Patrick relives his experience this year with his trip to the USA and living with Heart Disease.

Martin's Joke of the week pop's again, we'll leave you to judge that one.

Next weeks guest is a young Cancer fighter and Ex-international Rugby player. Harvey "Harv" Burnett is a Scotland international professional rugby league and rugby union footballer who plays as a wing, centre or second-row for the Dewsbury Rams in the Betfred Championship. He is also a Scotland international.

Already into Episode 3 of Season 2.

We are pleased today to have our Guest Norman Hume, martin and Patrick have Known and worked with Norman for 30 years, Martin's childhood Dentists assistant was Norman's wife Anne.

Norman has finally (after the second attempt) agreed to come onto the podcast and tell us about his very rare illness diagnosed as a young boy and the complaints he suffers with today.

Norm has a rare illness called Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

Norman also has some additional illnesses which include Bronchiectasis, Prostate Cancer and Heart failure.

Martin and Patrick meet Norman at the local hostelry and have a very comfortable and informal chat where Norman speaks honestly and openly about his illness, the diagnosis and living with the diseases.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a group of inherited conditions that damage the peripheral nerves, which are located outside of the brain and spinal cord. It's also known as hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy (HMSN) or peroneal muscular atrophy (PMA). CMT is the most common inherited neurological disorder, affecting about one in 2,500 people.

Bronchiectasis is a long-term condition where the airways of the lungs become widened, leading to a build-up of excess mucus that can make the lungs more vulnerable to infection.

Prostate cancer is a disease that occurs when malignant cells form in the prostate gland, a walnut-sized organ that's part of the male reproductive system. It's the most common cancer in men in the UK, and some trans women and non-binary people (who were born male) can also develop it.

Heart failure is a condition where your heart can’t pump blood around your body as well as it should. It doesn’t mean your heart has stopped working but you may need support to help it work better.

Finally we do get a chance to slip in Martin's joke of the week.
