  • Jen St. Jean
    Oct 7 2024

"Faster as a master" - Jen St. Jean has been competing in track and cross country since 8th grade; with a career that spans NCAA Division 1 competition, post-collegiate Olympic Development, and world class Master's competition, including being a member of the World Record setting 4x800m relay team (women's age 45-49)!

She holds Master's age PRs of 4:37 in the 1500m and 2:17 in the 800m, while just this past weekend she beat her college PR in the 6k (23:23) at the Paul Short Invitational - running 22:54 at 49 years old.

In this episode, Lauren and Jen discuss her history and trajectory that ultimately led her back into track and cross country competition as a master, how her training has changed (or not), managing perimenopause, the impact of nutrition on a changing body, and how her approach and experience in competition has evolved over time.

  • Sabrina Stanley
    Sep 30 2024

Sabrina Stanley has been a force on the trails since she first discovered ultra-running nearly 10 years ago. In that time, she rose quickly from beginner to champion - landing wins, podiums, and course records at some of the most competitive and well known races in the world.

(Western States, Hurt 100, Hardrock, Grand Raid, and UTMB just to name a few.)

From the outside looking in, you would never know that while achieving impressive results on paper, she'd been privately dealing with misdiagnosed mystery pain since 2021.

In this episode, Lauren and Sabrina discuss that injury in depth: from the literal and figurative pain she was enduring, the toll on her running but also her mental health, ultimately receiving a concrete diagnosis and surgical repair, her choice to keep all of this private (until now), and how the experience has changed her as a person, an athlete, and a competitor.

Spoiler alert: she's fresh off a seventh place finish at UTMB 2024, a full 90 minutes faster than her 2023 ninth place finish... and just getting started from a new launching point!

    Sep 23 2024

Traci Falbo has done it all - world championship teams, Western States, the Grand Slam, marathon finishes in all 50 states+, mountains, tracks, 24-hour racing, a 48-hour American Record, and more!

In this episode, Lauren and Traci discuss her entry into sport as a method for weight loss, how that evolved step by step into marathon and ultra-running, finding her niche in long distance, and how a difficult knee injury has changed her perspective and the way she competes today.
