When you struggle to figure something out, find someone or something else that is working and go be a part of that.

If there is a position you want to be in one day, do whatever the people in that position are doing, Take your advice from them and others in their similar or higher position.

In sobriety and happiness, kids are these role models! Get into it with them and enjoy every precious second with them. Soon they will be teenagers and you will be making appointments with them for their time. Take advantage of it now while it is all yours for the taking!!!

Do whatever Dimitri's doing is an analogy from my Navy time where I had a guy who was struggling to be a "good dude." He wanted to be a top performer but lacked a lot of natural initiative needed to be one.

I finally told him one day that if he wants to improve his reputation then he should go do whatever Dimitri is doing because whatever Dimitri is doing is AWESOME!

Same thing here, go do whatever your kids are doing. Kid into it, be all up in it and love it. Your relationship with them will change almost immediately. Once they figure out that you are in there just to hang out with them, they will explode!

In the picture is me and Morgan (Zoe). She was probably 5 or 6 in this photo. We are at my cousin Autumn and Jonathan's house doing a family pumpkin carving contest.

I do not have children of my own and the feeling of "welling up with pride" has never came over me until recently. Not being drunk all the time is what has allowed me to appreciate these moments and many more.

The grandkids (DJ and D'Koda). My nephews:Atticus and Little Man, Nieces: Kyndra, Morgan (Zoe) and Kamryn.

Getting off the sauce can be a hard thing to do but once you start to have the, "blessings of sobriety" or as I call it, "beautiful moments." Your inspiration and resilience to stay away from the booze .

Drinking is a lot of work to sneak, lie, hide, manage the time clock, hiding evidence, being hungover, suffering through the day, damage control from the night before.

BUT once you get off the sauce, all that goes away and you can start to realize the BEAUTIFUL MOMENTs that are happening all around you.

Stop denying it and let go, join the movement of people doing this no alcohol thing!

Welcome to season two of the Word of Mouth podcast!

I would like to take a turn and talk about the positive side of not drinking alcohol 7 days a week in copious amounts that will scare any normal person.

Season two is a call out to all those at various lengths of sobriety to come on the show and talk about their journeys. The good, the bad, what worked and what did not.

Today was a special day posting "Everything is not FINE" because the picture I chose was a from a helicopter crash on my 6th deployment as a Team Chief and Steve was my Leading Petty Officer (second in command) on the scene.

Also today I heard about the unrest boiling in Brazil which made me think of Fernanda, his wife. Now with this show rolling, I think this is a perfect time to pause and make a public apology to her for robbing her of so much of her time with her husband when I was his boss in the military.
