This week at Zion, Pastor Brandon Block gives us a look into Acts 20:13-38. In this passage, Paul is headed to Jerusalem where he will ultimately be tried and thrown into prison. He knows that trouble awaits him and he trusts the message of the gospel to the elders at Ephesus. Paul warns them that people will try to come and steal away and discredit the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the power of grace, and the truth hidden in it. In every letter that Paul writes, he reinforces the gospel with Jesus Christ and righteous living. Remember that falling asleep spiritually is a real and dangerous thing. It could be argued that it's more hazardous than falling asleep physically. The root of your spiritual sleep lies in two main areas: disappointment and bitterness. While bitterness has the power to quickly act on your spiritual life, disappointment may slowly be putting you to sleep like a comfortable, warm blanket. God is calling you to wake up. It's time to make a difference in the Kingdom of God.

In the face of opposition, Paul never gave up on his assignment, which is Jesus, the great prize. Do you know your assignment? Philippians 3:14 says, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Do you know what God is calling you to, even when you're faced with opposition? Even in times when Paul had people trying to murder him, he pressed on toward the great prize. He not only continued his assignment, but he also encouraged those around him and surrounded himself with great men of God.

In this assignment, we can receive revival, which is a refreshing experience that comes from pursuing the Lord with everything.
