Story
In 1861, Lt. Col. William Hoffman was appointed to the post of commissary general of prisoners and urged to find a suitable site for the construction of what was expected to be the Union's sole military prison. After inspecting four islands in Lake Erie, Hoffman came upon one in Sandusky Bay known as Johnson's Island. With a large amount of fallen timber, 40 acres of cleared land, and its proximity to Sandusky, Ohio, Johnson's Island seemed the ideal location for the Union's purpose.

Story
We are a generation that is soaked in so much mental clutter that we hardly enjoy the good moments that we spend with ourselves or with others. We are simply accustomed to having our minds racing thinking of this and that such that we never find time to appreciate ourselves and others for their efforts in life. For instance, it isn't unheard of for someone to find that they are pregnant but immediately enter into a state of depression. The reasons could be varied.

Story
This audiobook contains techniques and strategies that will help you to be more productive in your life and cultivate the habit of discipline. It's important to understand that discipline is a learnable skill and habit. The same goes for procrastination. The more you procrastinate, the more difficult it becomes to break the habit. Whereas, if you continually practice self-discipline and gain momentum with it, your "discipline muscles" become stronger and it becomes easier for you to take massive action in your life.

Story
Daniel Webster gave this speech in honor of George Washington on the centennial of the first US president’s birth. In it, he praises Washington’s attributes and recounts his service to America. He states that Washington is a man “whose name is intimately blended with whatever belongs most essentially to the prosperity, the liberty, and the renown of our country”. In recounting the life and work of Washington, however, Webster’s speech also serves as a reflection on the past 100 years in American history and the birth of a great nation.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

There is no bigger public health story now than the collapse in youth mental health. The numbers are terrifying and dominate our headlines. There has been much debate over how we got here, and what to do next, and bestselling author and social psychologist Jonathan Haidt is at the white-hot center of that discourse. Haidt has spent his career speaking wisdom and truth into the most difficult landscapes—communities polarized by politics and religion, campuses battling culture wars, and now the perfect storm contributing to a public health emergency for Gen Z.
