Group leader

I read this book as part of a group with other mamas.
It was so refreshing and real. It helped us in areas where we were struggling as parents and gave us great tips. I highly recommend even if you think things are ok with your kids.

An excellent read on being a good human

I feel like I could have written this book—meaning, it resonated with me so much; even all the details! Great observations, stated well and simply regarding the preservation of the good old fashioned human, childhood, and family.

I cried

I’ve read a lot of books on parenting, but this is the first one to bring me to tears. The author does such a great job of identifying what makes a childhood magical and pointing to ways you can give that gift to your children. I am very very thankful for this lovely read.

Timely reminders

Jessica taps into the simple things we all know our kids need, but can absolutely put to the side in the name of convenience or the slippery slope of parenting habits. I love the intertwining of faith at the end, because that’s what will take our kids well into their adulthood when we’re not their mommies and daddies anymore. Great stories, tips, and reminders of what our modern kids really need from us!

Not a Mom Yet

However, this and the Bible will be my two manuals for parenting. Wow, the amount of great insight, funny stories, and encouragement are overwhelming. I feel like I need to reread it five times to soak it all in. I’ll be buying this as a baby shower gift moving forward, seriously!

Solid and practical parenting guide

This was the first of Jessica Smartt's books I read. I sometimes have a hard time finishing nonfiction, but her writing style is so engaging - at times, downright funny! - that this book was a breeze. I appreciate her wisdom and practical ideas and will be coming back to this book time and again as I look to implement many of her ideas with my kids.
