About this listen

Everyone thought I was married to the perfect man. But if Conall Walsh were perfect, I wouldn't have killed him.

I thought I got away with it until I received an anonymous note at the ballet company I dance for:

You were a very bad girl. If you don't want me to report what I know about last night, meet me at the old opera house after rehearsal. I will tell you the price of my silence when you arrive. If you speak of this or bring anyone with you... no deal.

But his price isn't money. It's me.

This book is a stand-alone contemporary dark romance.

Perfection

This is my first book by Kitty Thomas but it definitely won't be my last. Perfection sucked me in right from the very beginning all the way until the end. It had just the right amount of suspense, danger, intrigue and hotness. I loved everything about it and can't wait for more of Kitty's books to come out on audio. Shirl Rae did an amazing job bringing this story to life.

Hands down my favorite KT Story!

I started on Perfection the moment that it came out in print form and immediately recognized that it was *so* different from previous books of Kitty Thomas'. I can't put my finger on it, it just seems a lot more... I don't know, the connection between the two characters just seems so much more real. If you're a fan, I highly suggest that you give it a try, I think you'll be blown away (although I think that everyone will be able to appreciate this book).

I really did enjoy the Audible version as well. Admittedly the voice actor wasn't my favorite, but I can be a bit picky, so take that with a grain of salt!

Not sure what I was expecting. Not sure how I feel

So I struggled with all the Ballet terminology. It completely took me out of the story. The entire time I was wondering how this was going to conclude and I was definitely shocked. I failed to fall in love/lust with the characters and I'm glad this was a short listen. The narrator did a decent job, but I felt sometimes that I was being read to and the acting suffered.

Perfect Narration for a Breathtaking Story

THE STORY: Reminiscent of Phantom of the Opera, Kitty Thomas creates a dark and sensual seduction that reads just like a ballet piece that Cassia Lane might dance. Cassia dances to please her mysterious Master, telling herself she is doing it to avoid prison for the justified murder of her husband, all so she can fly freely upon the stage. As the story progresses, you are as blind to the truth as Cassia is, and that just builds a deeper addiction to find out what exactly is going on. Her unknown Master's reasoning and identity remain shrouded in shadow until a very climactic dance number that leaves the reader's heart beating frantically and chest heaving just as breathlessly as Cassia at the revelations. Kitty has crafted a tale with PERFECTION that makes the reader question what they think they know about love and seduction.

THE PLAYBACK: Shirl Rae's performance as Cassia deserves a standing ovation. She easily brings forth the emotions Cassia feels as well as the occasional snark from the mysterious Master. Her intonations help provide distinguishing points where the narration itself drops in favor of Cassia's internal dialogue, which can be a little tricky to discern when the text is not available to the reader. She also doesn't shy away or hesitate on the steamy scenes, so there is no broken or jarring mood killing...just the husband murdering as written. ;-)

Perfection!

Wow! This was a brilliant story!! It started off with a bang and never let up. It was beautiful, hot, elegant and forbidden all rolled in to one incredible book! I couldn't put it down once I started it. It was absolute perfection!!

And now let's talk about the narration shall we. Shirl Rae did such a fantastic job with this book! I loved this book when I initially read it, but it was even better listening too it. Shirl really brought the story to life.

I'm Sorry! I wanted to love this story!

I really did want to like this story more but the big reveal was um, like an episode of Scooby Doo but only in this episode when they reveal the culprit, it's someone we never met or thought about, okay fine I can deal with that. I love that the writer was able to create a sinfully sexy story but I think the need to have a Wow (Sixth Sense) moment ruined this. I was accepting of the first Wow moment but then the second one was a bit over the top. I have to say it felt a lot like both the character, Cassia and the reader was bullied, not sensually this time but roughly to end the story on a shocker that honestly felt so forced I stopped the book and made myself listen to the ending after a pep talk. I'm sure some will like this story and I hope that you do given the narrator is amazing! However, for me it had already done an admirable job and didn't need that last hoorah.

Great ebook!

I always get excited about a new Kitty Thomas story and absolutely loved experiencing Perfection as an ebook. It had the wonderfully complicated storyline one comes to expect and the narration was so well done! How well an audio book can make or break one’s enjoyment and I was extremely pleased.

Cassia has the perfect life when viewed from the outside world, but her abusive marriage made each and every day difficult. She thought she finally had freedom, until a mysterious man blackmails her. Soon she finds herself doing everything Master tells her, including things she never imagined she would be willing to do.

Really great story!

This was SOOOO GOOD! The narrator was a decent choice. Glad she was a female since it fit the story the best, but there were a few times she sounded like a robot reading the story. When it came to the characters talking she did a pretty good job of bringing the characters to life. Once I got used to how she narrated I enjoyed the story immensely.

I really loved how the author wrote about ballet and how things work. I'm not a ballet expert by any means but the way it was written made me feel like I was part of that world for a little bit. I loved Cassia. She was a great character. She was also a strong person and even tho she was scared at first. I love how she blooms after she meets her "sir", who then turns into "master".

I love how the events play out in the story too. And the way it ends was very satisfying for me. I don't know if this will happen but I hope there will be more books that link to this one and you get to find out what happens to the characters. There was a bit of a twist which im sure some might be able to guess but I sure didn't! But I loved where it led. I don't like giving spoilers so let's just say if your a fan of this author or of dark romance you won't regret getting this book.

Great story!

Let me start with, I've already read the book. I already knew what was going to happen and how it was going to end. I normally 'listen' to books via the text to speech function on my Kindle, which is how I experienced Perfection the first time around. Now I am popping my Audible cherry by listening to a book that is actually narrated. The difference is... What am I saying? There is no difference. I may never go back to Text to Speech!

A ballerina in a less than stellar marriage, offs her abusive husband, gets caught and now looks to be blackmailed into meeting up with a stranger. Hmmm… Got to admit, the very beginning of the book after Cassia has done the dirty deed, I may have been a bit true crime giggly. Then I sobered up and just lost myself in the story. I found myself thoroughly enjoying all the aspects of the ballet bits as well as the situation Cassia finds herself in. Who is the blackmailer? What could he want from her? Not money so the obvious next thing is…but why and better yet, why Cassia?

As the beauty of the story continues, I found myself lulled into a false since of contentment. That is until TADA! heart stopping moment. The showstopper that had my jaw the floor and scrambling back for a fast re-read even before I finished the book. What? What?! I…WHAT?!?! 0.o

Now back to previously having read the book. The difference between reading a book for the first time then listening to an audiobook is my preconceived notions of what I think each character sounds like. The narrator, Shirl Rae, did a fine job of matching the essence of the feel and emotion of Cassia. I struggle a bit when she spoke in her version of Cassia’s (for lack of a better name) blackmailer. This in no way reflects on Ms. Rae’s narration but instead goes back to my preconceived notions. Had I been experiencing this book with all its Whats! and OMGs! for the very first time, I would have undoubtedly enjoyed it in all its…Perfection.
