Resumen del Editor
I remember when I aimed for perfect workouts: 30 minutes was the minimum.
I was in lousy shape.
I remember when I aimed for perfect dating: it couldn't be awkward, forced, or uncertain.
I didn't talk to women I was interested in.
I remember when I aimed for perfect writing: I wanted 1,000+ words of quality material per day.
I played video games instead.
I carefully avoided mistakes, endlessly ruminated about what I didn't do, and what I did do wasn't enough.
Then, I became an imperfectionist.
Everything changed. I had fun stories to tell, like the lesbian pizza incident and the most nervous "Hi" ever spoken by a human being. I learned more. I laughed more. I lived more.
I got in great shape, read more books, and improved my social skills. I wrote Mini Habits, which is being translated into a dozen languages.
I found I could mess up and still win.
Perfectionism is a naturally limiting mindset. For example, kids are taught to color inside the lines, and any color outside the lines is considered a mistake that must be corrected. Imperfectionism frees us to live outside the lines, where possibilities are infinite, mistakes are allowed, and self-judgment is minimal.
While the freedom of imperfectionism is impactful, it does not preclude us from having problems. Imperfectionists aren't so ironic as to have perfect lives, they're just happier, healthier, and more productive at doing what matters.

S.U.M.O. stands for Shut Up, Move On. It's a phrase to say to ourselves (and sometimes others) when we are acting or thinking in a way that is hindering our ability to succeed. It doesn't necessarily mean "get over it" or "pull yourself together" (although there may be occasions when both responses are necessary): "Shut Up" means stop what you're doing, take time out to reflect, let go of baggage and beliefs that hinder your potential; "Move On" means tomorrow can be different from today, look for new possibilities, don't just think about it, take action.

One afternoon - after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise - I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books.

If you’re tired of the repetitive and exhausting grind to develop good habits, it’s time to give your habits the refreshing superpower of elasticity. Listen to Elastic Habits now, and you’ll soon discover the life-changing difference of good habits that adapt to your day.

Your power to change one moment can create life-changing momentum. In The Magic of Momentum, international best-selling author Stephen Guise reveals how momentum works differently in our behavior and lives than it does in other areas. Behavioral momentum, however, is far more powerful than other forms of momentum. It’s not the “string of successes” we often perceive it to be. Behavioral momentum is layered and exponential because every action you take changes how your brain interprets that behavior.

Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

Today, burnout and depression are at record levels, driven by a combination of intense workplace competition, oppressively ubiquitous social media encouraging comparisons with others, the quest for elite credentials, and helicopter parenting. Society continually broadcasts the need to want more, and to be perfect. Gathering a wide range of contemporary evidence, Curran calls for both introspection and broader, societal change. He shows what we can do as individuals to resist the modern-day pressure to be perfect, and in so doing, win for ourselves a more purposeful and contented life.

If you were raised to believe that painful emotions are a sign of weakness, or if being vulnerable has always made you feel unsafe, then you may have survived by creating a perfect-looking life - a life where you appear to be successful, engaged, and always there for others. The problem? You're filled with self-criticism and shame, and you can't allow yourself to express fear, anger, loss, or grief. You recognize something is wrong, but you're not sure what exactly - only that you feel trapped and alone. If this sounds like you, you may have perfectly hidden depression (PHD).

Just what I needed
This book was just what I needed during a time in my life where I'm feeling stuck and insecure. I never knew how much perfectionist tendencies limited my freedom, success and happiness. The content was laid out in a way that made sense and was useful and practical. I listened twice so that I could just digest the information the first time without feeling pressure to do the action steps all in one. I am now ready to take the necessary steps to make changes in my life. I know there is no one smoking gun but this really made me think of goals, progress, success and failure in a different light. The narration was also very good (one of the things that's hit or miss with audible). I have recommended this book to several people already.

Helpful
As someone who has only recently realized that perfectionism is causing a lot of issues in my life, this book has been very helpful in giving me some insight and understanding as well as concrete solutions to counteract this detrimental way of thinking.

One of the best self-help books I've ever read!
I'm a writer and this book actually gives me the tools to help me with my struggles with perfectionism, procrastination, rumination and fear. Rather than just motivation or positive thinking, this book provides dozens of easy, effective, real-world techniques such as beginning mini habits, setting timers and adjusting your standards. Taking action is actually the solution to rumination. I'll be listening to this one over and over again. I'll definitely get Stephen's other book, Mini-Habits, too. I also recommend Wayne Dyer's book, Excuses Begone! to anyone dealing with perfectionism. I've listened to it several times and while he doesn't offer the techniques that Stephen does, it is helpful in changing your mindset. Thanks so much, Stephen, for writing a life-changing book!

Coaching through insecurities
Content was not as concise as I would've liked, but fabulously successful nonetheless on altering my perspective on perfectionism. By listening to this audiobook, I became aware of the insecurities perfectionism can stem from. Thanks, Stephen Guise, for making imperfectionism attractive and achievable with your coaching.
Stephen Guise's stories referring to Mini Habits were one of the things I found most helpful.

Good, but not perfect. ;-)
It has some really good ideas, ones that I will work on. But, in trying to cover helpful tips fur all of the types of perfectionism, there were only a few concepts that were directly applicable to my situation.

Good book
I like that this book applies to just about everyone. However, the the readers volume goes up and down as he reads and is very annoying.

Awesome book - must read/listen for those with perfectionist tendencies / problem
This book is really awesome - I learned a ton and started applying the principles immediately, which already helped (this is a must if you are an entrepreneur with perfectionist tendencies). The book is well organized and has clear implementation / application steps and guide - already recommended to a ton of friends with the problem.

Impactful
This book actually helped me. If it sounds like I’m surprised, I am. I was hoping the book might have some helpful information but it did more than that. It gave me a different way to think about things, which is hard to do considering I am very set in my ways. Instead of my all or nothing thinking from before, I celebrate progress no matter the size. And that in turn prevents me from feeling bad about myself like I had before and then ruminating for days on end on how I messed something up. By preventing this cycle from even beginning, I feel a sense of freedom from a destructive part of myself that was only hurting my morale. This book has done the unexpected - it made an impact.
