Great despite some bad reviews

Any additional comments?

Some say the reading is smarmy and annoying. I can see why they say that about the author who reads only the introduction.

Some say the names for techniques are goofy and patronizing. I say they are good memory aids. They are goofy and inspire visual images, which are easier to remember.

Some say the author sounds too self-congratulatory about her many important friends and her uniquely superior save-the-day wisdom. I was just a bit annoyed by this. But I appreciate personal stories as examples. Stories are easier to remember. It's part of her job as a writer to sell you on the usefulness of the suggestions. Besides, I don't care if she is a bit self-important. That doesn't change my evaluation of the usefulness of the suggestions.

Some say the techniques are manipulative. I don't think so. In fact some of her tips specifically discussed the line between manipulation and sincerity and warns that unless you are completely sincere it will backfire. I think tips are good manners, and good manners are about being aware of how you affect other people. It's about being considerate.

Some say that her examples were dated and out of touch. Well, I may be out of touch myself, but didn't think so. The only dated examples that stood out to me were her suggestion of calling the chamber of commerce and using the world wide web. (hahaha) That hardly invalidates all the interpersonal awareness taught in the book.

I found the suggestions extremely helpful. Some I realized I already do but was really glad for the reminder. Others, I had no idea and I wish someone had told me!

This is a great follow up book from How to win friends and influence people .

i can say that this text has done what How to Win Friends and Influnce People and that is give a step by step guide on multiple trchniques on how to imporve social skills. Will be re-reading for a long time.

Great life tips

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be systematically applying as many of the tips as possible into my life and interactions. I can't wait to see the effects! And beautiful use of language throughout!

This book requires to be listened to over and over again to ensure that you catch everything. Very informative and gives a new perspective.

Not bad for the price.

This could have easily been 50 or 60 tips. This is the type of book (audible) for my usual coast to coast flights that can be great to fill in the time. So if you spend a lot of time at an airport, this is for you. The tips in the book are pretty common sense, backed by stories and examples from the author.

cleverness in a book

I found this book helpful I found myself asking my self questions . I enjoyed the narrator and her journey.

I liked the book overall and found the advice beneficial.

However, I would recommend it to be updated to be made more modern as many of the references are quite dated.

it is imperative that you read this book

immediately after reading this book, my life changed. Communicating has not been more simple. honestly, if you can see yourself making any improvements whatsoever to your communication skills, then you need to download this book. I would almost go as far as to say that employing the techniques of this book works magic.

pretty good book. learned quite a few tidbits and will definitely use in everyday life
