Packed with new reporting, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party tracks Trump’s improbable journey from disgraced and defeated former president to the dominant force, yet again, in the Republican Party. From his exile in Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump has become more extreme, vengeful, and divorced from reality than he was on January 6, 2021. His meddling damaged the GOP’s electoral prospects and his legal troubles were mounting. Yet he re-emerged as the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, and the president-elect.

When Michael Cohen's secret payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels on behalf of Donald Trump made Cohen look like a liability to the by-then-president of the United States, the end to their decade-long relationship came swiftly—with a knock on the door from the FBI. Soon, Cohen would find himself imprisoned—even though he had plenty of evidence to show he was innocent of most of the charges.

Donald Trump will be president again, whether he is on the ballot or not. That is because Trumpism is overtaking the Republican Party and will mount a vigorous comeback, potentially in the hands of a savvier successor. This prophecy will come true, according to Miles Taylor, if we do not learn the lessons of the recent past. With the 2024 election approaching, the formerly “Anonymous” official is back with bombshell revelations and a sobering national forecast. Taylor predicts what could happen inside “Trump 2.0,” the White House of a more competent and more formidable copycat.

In the more than five tumultuous, paradigm-shifting years of Donald Trump’s presidency and beyond, his near-constant lying has become a fixture of political life. It is inextricably linked with how his party behaves, how the Democrats respond to it, and how he remains relevant, even after a decisive loss in 2020. Jonathan Lemire brings his connections, profile, and reportorial instincts to bear in his first book that explores how this phenomenon shapes our politics. The Big Lie is the first audiobook to examine this unprecedented and tenuous moment in our nation’s politics.

Donald Trump v. The United States tells the dramatic story of those who felt compelled to confront and try to contain the most powerful man in the world as he shredded norms and sought to expand his power. Michael S. Schmidt takes listeners inside the defining events of the presidency, chronicles them up close, and records the clash between an increasingly emboldened president and those around him, who find themselves trying to thwart the president they had pledged to serve, unsure whether he is acting in the interest of the country, his ego, his family business, or Russia.

In the early hours of November 9, 2016, one of the most contentious, polarizing, and vicious presidential races came to an abrupt and unexpected end when heavily favored presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton called Donald J. Trump to concede, shocking a nation that had, only hours before, given little credence to his chances. Donald Trump pulled the greatest upset in American political history despite a torrent of invective and dismissal of the mainstream media.

In this unique insider account, John H. Sununu pays tribute to his former boss - an intelligent, thoughtful, modest leader - and his overlooked accomplishments. Though George H. W. Bush is remembered for orchestrating one of the largest and most successful military campaigns in history - the Gulf War - Sununu argues that conventional wisdom misses many of Bush's other great achievements.

Historia
The chiefs of staff, often referred to as "the gatekeepers", wield tremendous power in Washington and beyond; they decide who is allowed to see the president, negotiate with Congress to push POTUS's agenda, and - most crucially - enjoy unparalleled access to the leader of the free world. Through extensive, intimate interviews with 18 living chiefs (including Reince Priebus) and two former presidents, award-winning journalist and producer Chris Whipple pulls back the curtain on this unique fraternity. In doing so, he revises our understanding of presidential history.

This is Frost's absorbing story of his pursuit of Richard Nixon and is no less revealing of his own toughness and pertinacity than of the ex-president's elusiveness. Frost's encounters with such figures as Swifty Lazar, Ron Ziegler, potential sponsors, and Nixon as negotiator are nothing short of hilarious, and his insight into the taping of the programs themselves is fascinating.

Four years ago, a bright young presidential candidate named Barack Obama campaigned on a theme of hope and change, and made history. Today, he finds himself in another bitter, divisive presidential race but without the buzzwords. Instead, an embattled president struggles with a dysfunctionally divided Congress, a controversial healthcare bill, a decade-long war, and a stagnant economy.

Historia
For more than two decades, Sean Spicer had been a respected political insider, working as a campaign and communications strategist. But in December 2016, he got the call of a lifetime. President-elect Donald J. Trump had chosen him to be the White House press secretary. And life hasn’t been the same since. When he accepted the job, Spicer was far from a household name. But then he walked into the bright lights of the briefing room, and the cameras started rolling. His every word was scrutinized. Every movement was parodied. Every detail became a meme. And that’s just the public side.

Learn the inside scoop on Watergate, the Ford Pardon, and the 18-minute Gap. Roger Stone, The New York Times best-selling author of The Man Who Killed Kennedy: The Case Against LBJ, gives the inside scoop on Nixon’s rise and fall in Watergate in his new book Nixon’s Secrets. Stone charts Nixon’s rise from election to Congress in 1946 to the White House in 1968 after his razor-thin loss to John Kennedy in 1960, his disastrous campaign for Governor of California in 1962, and the greatest comeback in American Presidential history.

The Presidents Club was born at Eisenhower’s inauguration when Harry Truman and Herbert Hoover first conceived the idea. Over the years that followed - and to this day - the presidents relied on, misunderstood, sabotaged, and formed alliances with one another that changed history. The world’s most exclusive fraternity is a complicated place: its members are bound forever because they sat in the Oval Office and know its secrets, yet they are immortal rivals for history’s favor.

This is Really Wild
I liked the fact that Mr. Garrett was there and actually heard and saw what transpired. There were several times that I found that his facts made what did occur clearer. I think the book is highly recommended to anyone who finds the political field strange at this time.

A Great Book
Major Garrett's Mr. Trump's Wild Ride is a great book. Expecting and wanting a criticism I was surprised to find that it wasn't even an explanation of Trump and his presidency. It is a description. So it gives much more information about how and why things are and happened. Well worth the read.

Major is superb
Written in a factual way, this reporter’s retelling of the (almost) first two years of the Trump administration is spot on.

Mr Trump's Wild Ride
Extremely detailed narration of Trump's first 20 months or so in office. It does require close attention to keep track of the huge cast of characters and their behaviors.
Very wordy in terms of adjectives, adverbs, turns of phrase, which also requires close attention to follow the narrative, but that may have been in part because I used the audible version without the benefit of the visible breaks of paragraphs and punctuation, though as a long-time professional transcriptionist, I can usually "hear" the punctuation in a narrative.
Overall, he seems to be rather sympathetic to Trump's efforts and limitations, at least trying to be balanced in his descriptions, more so than the prior two major recent publications in the topic. I cannot speak to which is more accurate, but I suspect Trump's admirers would prefer this version.

I expected a more balanced perspective
The first two chapters, which were 1 hr. 45 minutes long, led me to believe Major Garrett would present a far more balanced perspective of Trump than either the very positive or very negative books I have read about our current president. The rest of MR. TRUMP'S WILD RIDE did a great job of organizing topics and covering factual details. Garrett's attacks on Trump's failures were generally fair, but while he recognized the successes of the of Trump's first 18 months he managed to find creative ways to give Trump no credit whatever for his successes. Successes were blind dumb luck or were engineered by others usually over Trump's objections according to Garrett. Garrett's explanations of why Trump does not deserve credit for his successes reek of dishonesty. It is this utter dishonesty by the author that cause me to rate this well organized, well written, and well narrated book 1 star.
The weakest aspect of this book was the effort to paint Trump as a racist. In doing so Garrett managed to say that George W Bush and Ronald Reagan were not racists. All Republican presidents beginning with Nixon and including Reagan, Bush I and Bush II were routinely called racists by Democrats and the media while in office. The racist charges against Trump are false as were the same charges against the three prior Republican presidents. Charging Republican presidents with racism is now de rigueur (that means fashionable or customary).

jumbled mess
This car crash of a book is essentially a biased reporter reading you the bits of a newspaper he agreed with, with no ability to evaluate whether what he's saying has any other implication beyond the author's own prejudices.
