The relationship with food

The reader was great and the story had me leaning in to see what was going to happen next. I loved the food descriptions.

Delicious

I enjoyed this book so much that I listened to it over the course of a day. It was a great story, a pretty original take on betrayal and its consequences. Piglet felt like a real character, flawed and complicated. The narrator was excellent, as well!

Fantastic writing

Loved listening to every word of this story. So vibrant! Descriptions were so vivid. Hated the ending. Really left you hanging.

It annoyed me but I kept listening because I wanted to know what Kit did…

A cute easy listen - culinary descriptions elevate this reverse -rom com . Some really funny moments and a very convincing Midlands accent …

How often does this happen?

As I listened to the tale unfold, I couldn't help but wonder "how many people" (feel this way? experience similar misgivings? indulge to compensate?) as they approach a momentous day/period within their life. With the literal and metaphorical backdrop of food, I fell for this heartbreaking and heartwarming story. Really enjoyed the way adjectives and adverbs peppered (pun intended) the book. I truly love the author's gift -- her writing was beautifully descriptive without being verbose, and feeling real... at least for this reader. That is an art. The narrators pronunciations were spot on (drives me nuts when foods are mispronounced, esp. east Asian items). To sum, this was right up my alley.
