So good and Unpredictable!!!

This story kept me reeled in the entire time!!! A little bit Dark Romance along with amazing fantasy and world building!! I cant wait for the next one!! The only thing that annoyed me a bit was how whiny Tessa can be at times but as she comes into her power and badassery I think that will change!!!

Insufferable

This book is so difficult to finish. The protagonists are extremely annoying. Worst waste of a credit. I would not recommend

Wtf did i just listen to.

Most of this book is boring and repetitive. I skipped 3 hrs ahead near the end and still didn’t miss much. I also don’t see the point of the cliffhanger. By the end of the story i was so bored I’m not sure I’ll bother with the other books in this series at all

AMAZING

The author did an AMAZING job creating such dynamic characters and I felt every emotion with them!
The narrators were phenomenal portraying each character and it felt like I was living the story.

Best new series since ACOTAR

I NEVER write reviews but this book wrapped me up in a new world just like ACOTAR did. The world building, the characters, plot twist, and the perfect amount of spice truly will make this series world renowned. The narrators are utter PERFECTION. I have been waiting for a series to sweep me up again and this book did that in EVERY way. So stop what you are doing listen or read this book.

First 5 star read of 2024 -

I made it through 2.5 books of Lady of Darkness series, it was good, then great, and then finally I got bored with the tepid MMC and ended up DNFing the series. I was TOTALLY hesitant to start this series and I am so glad I got over it because the book and series so far is AMAZING! I was in a total reading slump, just couldn't land a great fantasy series after many failed attempts.

In the audiobook Tessa is played with a posh British accent (while the rest are American) and it fits the story really well. I am not sure I could categorize this series as romantasy since there is very little romance or spice, but great tension. The storyline is great and as someone who LOVES series progressing 3-5 spice level, the lack of spice was just fine because the tension and 'will they/wont they' was fabulous!

Main character stayed ignorant and controlled for way too long….

I am a fan of dark fantasy romance, but this book was not that. I WILL say that it seems like the second book is set up to be much better than the first because things will begin moving. The writing and world building was good, however here is my complaint—*spoilers* —this book should have been half the length if the story was only going to progress as far as it did. There was no story or character arc. All the main characters stayed exactly the same the whole way through. The entire book (aside from LITERALLY the last chapter) the FMC who was secretly the most powerful person in the entire realm stayed completely ignorant to it. Instead she was forced to be a “source” to a complete asshole. She was literally branded, forced to sit at the dudes feet at dinner and the list goes on. And the level of degradation to the fae race by the so called “descendants of the gods” who in reality have no power if not for taking it from the fae was non stop through the whole book with no change, improvement or progress. The FMC just kept cowering down and letting the MMC walk all over her. He legit controlled what she ate and what clothes she wore. **please note—I live for morally gray characters and get my smiles from a good book scene where the male dominates BUT this was not that. The MMC had NO tender moments or a realization that he loved her and changed his ways. This book was too dark even for me and I hate that the very ending set me up for wanting to read the next book if it is just more of the same I will be putting it down right away. All that said, the author still has incredible writing skill, it was just the story itself that was a problem for me.

Perfection!

It’s dark but not THAT dark. The charters and the magical realm that was built just comes to life as the story was being told was perfectly written! I definitely need the second book!

Loved this book. We need the next book asap. I couldn’t stop listening I was hanging on to every word
