THE OVERNIGHT VIRAL SENSATION AND NATIONAL BESTSELLER

The bestselling phenomenon, When the Moon Hatched, is a fast-paced fantasy romance featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity’s grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to FALL.

As an assassin for the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve’s job is to complete orders and never get caught. When a rival bounty hunter turns her world upside down, blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself imprisoned by the Guild of Nobles—a group of powerful fae who turn her into a political statement.

Crushed by the loss of his great love, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to quell the never-ebbing ache in his chest, he is lured by a clue into the capitol’s high-security prison where he stumbles upon the imprisoned Raeve....

Echoes of the past race between them.

There’s more to their story than meets the eye, but some truths are too poisonous to swallow.

""A wild ride that thrills as much as it enchants . . . This remarkable book is an instant classic.” — Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars

When The Moon Hatched breathes new, beautiful life into the genre, as Sarah A. Parker weaves lyrical prose with undeniable chemistry. I laughed, I cried, I got everything out of this. It’s an absolutely stunning fantasy world that everyone should sink their teeth into.” — Raven Kennedy, internationally bestselling author of The Plated Prisoner series

Amazing story but

I would’ve really loved if the narrators would have collaborated. the fact that the girl gave the guy an accent and then when the guy reader read, there was no accent was really annoying and disrupted the story. I thought the girl did a fantastic job though she could’ve breathed a little less into her words and maybe not drug out every pronunciation. I hope that you don’t use the narrator again in the next book. Assuming there is one. I did, however love how unique the world was. I loved the love story. This book was really well written and thoroughly explained in the beginning of the book all the terms to learn in this new world. Seriously fantastic so glad I was able to experience this world. I really hope that the author explorers it more in the future because I need more. But for the love of God, please use a different male narrator It would’ve been a five star read had the narration been better.

Am I missing something ?

I feel like the beginning of the book was a completely different storyline than the rest of the book. Idk, there was a lot going on and too many things that didn’t meet up. Maybe it’s some else’s jam but def not mine

Gripping story

Wow I loved this from beginning to end. Great performance and voice acting by the narrators/cast. I had a feeling this book would be a 5 star read. It did not disappoint!

FMC is a cliché

I wanted to love this book, but quickly realized the FMC has been done. To death. Ifyou didn't like my phrasing, stay away from this book. Really. There are endless instances of this ridiculous type of phrasing, perhaps to emphasize something? I found it irritating and useless. This book needed a top notch editor- there was so much fluff AND a ton of run-on sentences. If you are going to read it, actually read it, don't listen. The female narrator was awful, especially when it came to the FMC. I didn't know if she was about to break out in tears or if she was turned on or if she was scared- they all sounded the same. The male narrator was better, IMO.
If there is a good editor for the next book, the story could be great. Even for this book, I thought the overall story arc as well as the world building was quite good. However, I really am so over a hero(ine) who keeps people at a distance to protect them. I find it cowardly and selfish. The author goes so far to show off the main character's bad-assery but then saddles her with so much obligatory "pain" that ultimately, she comes off as a total coward and completely immature. I long for a fantasy book where the heroine is a bad-ass AND mature enough to accept help. I might read the next installment, but only if it's on Kindle Unlimited. I certainly won't listen.

This will be a favorite for me this year!

The first time I picked up When the Moon Hatched I opened up to the glossary, felt overwhelmed, and closed the book.

Then I saw a recommendation from “The Fantasy Fan Girls Podcast” that suggested skipping the glossary initially and diving right into the story.

I did just that … and wow… what a unique world and magic system that Sara Parker built!! I’m in awe!!

The characters: Raeve, an imprisoned assassin, and Kaan, a heartbroken dragon rider. Both honed weapons with witty banter, fight, and passion! There is so much depth to each of them, but I don’t want to spoil anything!

“Then he asked me what I wanted, and I told him my truth. One three-letter word that weighed too much…. You.”

To give you a sample of the world-building and magic system without any spoilers:

(From the glossary)

Parchment Lark - Runed squares of parchment that have activation lines. Once folded (into the shape of a lark) these notes will flutter to the one the message is intended for. A reliable form of communication in this world.

Reídi - The dotted tattoo on the back of a warrior from the Boltanic Plains. Each dot represents a victory won, and a heavily tattooed back is a show of great strength and honor.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a paper copy of the book even if you plan on listening to the audio or reading the ebook. The glossary became such a valuable tool once I dove in and having the paper copy made for easy reference.

It would be amazing if all Fantasy books included a glossary!!

I LOVED it! I need the next book! I’m so invested in the characters and the rest of their story!!

Don’t read the Family Tree at the end until you finish the story!! (Spoilers)

I listened to the audio for part of the story and the readers were great!!

Romance Content: Open door (can be skipped) and language

Great Story

Such a great story. The female narrator was a little hard to warm to, but the story made up for any problems I had in the beginning. Loved it and I’m only disappointed that the next book isn’t out yet!!

Cant wait for Book Two

I don’t understand why people don’t like this book. It’s the first book of the series, of course it’s going to be a slow read. Its the FIRST book, you’re in a new world with a new language. Sarah Parker gives you the terms, creatures, and characters information so you can follow along. We have a slow burning love interest between Raeve and Kaan, but there’s history of Raeve that we also have to understand/know because it is important to the novel.
Raeve wants revenge, understanding/revealing “true-self”, a burning desire🔥/ slow burn, a BIG PLOT for book two with the Kingdom.

It doesn’t get spicy till chapter 37

This book is a good adventure

Better as a AudioBook!

twist and turns

I freaking loved how the book kept surprising me at every turn. I can't wait for the next one, but be warned, it ends on a huge cliffhanger.

Stunned beauty

This story is unbelievable. It’s beautiful, complex, intelligent and addicting. I listened and read along with a paper copy. It helped with the flipping back and forth to the map and reference guide. Some reviewers said it was too complex world building but I have read more confusing. Especially with the aids, this could be someone’s first fantasy and do just fine. Multiple POV.

The voice actors took some getting used to. By the end I felt they were well suited and did a good job. But the females voice sounds SO much like Siri as first that I couldn’t shake the similarities. And male voice was fine but his accent didn’t match the same accent the female voice was applying during her POV. Like his accent is British and her accent (in his spoke part under her POV) was Slovak or Eatern European. Overall though, their performances were good.

Overall this book is already an instant favorite. Even with a long TBR list, I was to reread immediately. Feeling slightly sick that we have to wait until next fall. But good things are worth the wait. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.

Loved the story but male narrator felt like an odd fit

Story was fantastic, loved the world building and the main characters especially. Leaving this review just to note that, while clearly a great voice actor, the male narrators accent and tone just didn’t *fit* right for Kaan. It felt too polished and posh. The female narrator narrating kaan felt a better fit to his and had a consistent foreign accent that I loved. When it switched the polished male voice it felt jarring and not consistent with the description of Kaan’s rugged, wild and rumbly character. Again, can’t fault the quality whatsoever and 10/10 would listen to this actor in other work but this wasn’t a great fit for me. Female narrator was *chefs kiss* on point.
