Living in New Zealand, Jack Gee thought he was safe. The beautiful, isolated country had always provided a sense of security. When a virus begins to spread across the globe, he is on a hiking trip in the mountains, blissfully unaware. A desperate message from his wife Dee alerts him to the viral threat that turns humans into apex predators with one purpose - to kill.
The country collapses as Jack races to get home, and when he finally does make it out of the mountains he finds his peaceful life has been shattered. Banding with other survivors, they all must quickly learn how to survive in this new world.

Variants invade the south Pacific!
loved this addition to Extinction cycle universe!
The NZ trilogy is at first a love story where a husband and wife are desperate to reunite as the world they knew crumbles around them. Weaponized Ebola mutates and causes humans to become apex predators!
What follows is the story of ordinary people standing up and taking the fight to evil.
Fantastic Loved the inclusion of the Maori culture.

fun for film fanatics
I love how its from a Kiwis perspective...not just a Kiwi, but a movie-lover that throws out movie quotes constantly to deal with life's challenges. I lost count, and appreciated many.
It was also adventurous and scary enough to warrant leaving the lights on. Some of it will haunt me for a bit.

Great Story in the Extinction Cycle Universe!
The books were well written and performed! Having listened to the Extinction Cycle books and the other offshoots, I was not sure if I would get tired of the repeating stories, but the author did a great job writing the story and the narrator in telling it! I remained interested and entertained!
