Loved the whole thing!

I really liked her story line/plot. It always kept me guessing and very intriguing to find out what would happen next. Couldn’t put it down!

More Intrigue!

Another great story from Melanie Cellier! I’m eager to read the rest of the series.

Delightfully engaging fantasy

I admire Melanie Cellier, as she is an excellent writer and world-builder. But, unexpectedly, this may be the one, and the series, I love the most, elevating it to five stars. I was completely engaged the entire time, never getting bored, and not getting overly anxious. It was the exact escapism I needed this week! I have started the second in the series. I listened to the Audible version, and absolutely loved the narration by Kira Fixx. It was one of the best narrators I ever encountered.

I very much enjoy reading about all the major characters (except the one evil mystery man). I was taken aback by the revealment near the end. Really loved the focus on healing as well as plant magic. Cannot say enough fine things about this excellent book. Highly recommended!

Repeating Themes

If you enjoyed her last two set of mage stories, this will be up your alley. This has better character development and it's easier to enjoy the main character. Different universe and magical system, but many of the themes from before repeat themselves over the three titles: political intrigue, class hierarchies, secret romance, magic aided disasters (storms/blight), main character with unique powers. The plot line is a little less linear and the story is more interesting despite the familiar elements.

Couldn't put it down

I listen while at work overnights, I normally love more adult romances when it comes to novels instead of manga. These books are the fantasy shojos of american novels and I love Melanie's work. suffering from depression and thinking that the world is dark enough, I crave happily ever after is like these. Well I assume this is going to be a happily ever after, considering her other books. And man! How does she keep creating unique Magic systems?! So much fun to hear the rules and how our beloved characters might break them. Her books so far have ALL been a good read/listen. Can't recommend her enough! Oh and this book of course. I wanna know what happens to Nick and Delphine in the future. How else does she use her power? How does Nick redeem himself? How do they work out? Can't wait to read the rest!

Good book

I bought this book because I enjoyed the spoken mage series. While this book did not grab me the same way the spoken mage and hidden mage did, I still enjoyed the story. I may yet purchase the next book to continue the series.

Excited to continue in this Mage world. Characters and storyline are very interesting and keep your attention. Narrator is decent. Starting book 2 now, hope 3 releases soon!

Very teenage book!

The main character spends to whole book blaming her father and what he might of held back from her. Let it go!!
Very slow, an effort to finish!!
