Ehlers-Danlos syndrome also known as EDS is a chronic health condition that Yasmin discovered she had been living with, albeit it had not been affecting her until her mid-twenties. This in turn brought on other chronic health conditions. Finding her tribe to learn, discover and ultimately be herself has impacted Yasmin greatly in her everyday struggles.

As humans we tend to focus on the negatives over the positives, we are conditioned to it. Focusing on what our bodies can’t do, what we think is missing from our lives, what we might no longer have that we once did... but we can switch our mindset. Some days you'll switch it, and others will be harder, and that's ok.

You are a human, and we are all still figuring it out, one day at a time.

9 out of 10 people have never heard the term “Aphasia.” Aphasia is a language disorder affecting the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write due to a brain injury. Two-thirds of stroke victims of all ages have Aphasia.

At age 69, Jonathan Hirons had a stroke. The complication from the stroke was Aphasia, and Jonathan was now starting all over again.

A filmmaker and producer, Jonathan recently produced a short documentary about Aphasia, to create greater awareness of Aphasia by bringing it to a wider audience.

Enduring an upbringing dominated by alcoholism and violence, Lee Spencer joined the Royal Marine Commandos in 1992. However, in 2014 Lee lost his leg whilst assisting people in a crash. He has since made history by rowing across the Atlantic breaking records with an all-amputee crew and setting solo rowing records and earning three Guinness World Records.

His journey reminds us that we often underestimate our capabilities and push past limits we never thought possible. Take a moment today to look in the mirror and be proud of the person looking back at you. Knowing the journey, it took to get here.

Paul Fullick, a former army officer, was left reinventing himself after an early retirement. The challenges didn’t stop there. In 2021, a motorcycle accident in Wales resulted in the degloving of his foot and the loss of his right leg. Claiming his injury was his ticket into his next steps in life, Paul was led to Team BRIT.
