  • STEVE WILKOS ON HANDLING A PARTNER'S DISEASE & HEALTH ISSUES.
    Jan 17 2024
In our society, women typically outlive men. That fact has been baked into our culture as a norm as it is an expectation, especially in spousal relationships. But what happens when a female partner suffers a debilitating disease?  How do men handle it? It may surprise to hear just how much men internalize their fears and stress to appear strong to their friends and family in the face of such dread.  I talked with talk show host Steve Wilkos about how he dealt with his wife’s cancer and the response he gave me will surprise you!

  • BRIAN KEHOE OF MDRIVE FOR MEN TALKING ABOUT MEN'S SUPPLEMENTS
    Jan 11 2024
Health and wellness isn’t just for women.  Although it’s commonly thought that women care more and spend more on their physical health and appearance than their counterparts, men are quickly catching on and catching up.  From diet and exercise to supplements, skincare, and healthcare, men are paying more attention.  And the health and wellness industry is noticing. Men are spending more on health, supplements and anti-aging than ever, and the numbers back it up, with 82% of men surveyed stating they “try to stay healthy to live longer for friends and family who rely on them.”  Ultimately, men spending more on their health—even if it starts simply for vanity—is a massive step in the right direction. And there are so many preventative measures they can take, including everything from diet and exercise to daily nutraceuticals and optimizing their hormones.  All of these measures can help men age happier and healthier. In this episode, I talk with Brian Kehoe of “Mdrive for Men” about how supplements and other treatments, can help men stay healthy as the wheels come off.

  • MORE 'FOOD' FOR THOUGHT...
    Dec 27 2023
On the show we have discussed how some men not only eat poorly, but also don’t discuss their eating habits with each other.  On today’s show, we sit down with John Stewart, the founder of Sunfare Food Service.  Stewart’s company Sunfare, is a prepared food delivery service that focuses on healthy eating plans, whether you are Keto, Raw, Paleo, Vegan, etc… What unites all the plans is the underlying health benefits that they each literally bring to your table (pun intended.) Your goal could be as simple as clean healthy eating, to lose weight or perhaps both. Sunfare makes all that easier for us to achieve. Stewart and I discuss his journey into this category, how it’s changed and how he stays on the cutting edge. We also chat about why men are so emotionally pre-disposed to thinking that dieting or a restrictive diet is a bummer instead of just viewing it as a healthy lifestyle.

  • WHAT OUR KIDS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT HOW WE'RE DOING AS DADS.
    Dec 21 2023
Make no mistake, regardless of the pride, joy and amazement that being a Father can offer, the one certainty all Dads share is — it’s a job! As Fathers, we do the best for our children that we can.  We want to protect them; give them all the opportunities and resources we didn’t get from our Dads.  We don’t always get it right, but as men Goddamit, we’re determined to CRUSH THIS ROLE! The irony of course is we never really know if we are doing a good job. We have no yardstick for success as every child is different, so there really is no proven play book to go by. Because we believe we must be tough, strong and have every answer for our children, men would never think to do the most obvious thing to gauge how they’re doing as Dads — ASK OUR KIDS WHAT THEY THINK.  So, for this this episode, I opened the proverbial Pandora’s Box and did just that — I talk my children about how they feel I am doing as a Dad. I will say the talk surprised me and might just surprise you too!

  • WHY MEN NEED TO DISCUSS THEIR HEALTH ISSUES WITH EACH OTHER.
    Dec 14 2023
I’ve had a lot of people ask me why I started a podcast, in as world with millions of them. My answer is found in the title —Things Men Don’t Talk About. It’s that simple. As an avid podcast listener and media person, it was obvious to me that there was a need for a show in which MEN could discuss MALE issues with each other in a safe space. My tipping point came when I almost died from an enlarged prostate. Because I myself, wasn’t communicating with my male friends or my doctor about the embarrassing symptoms, and my own hope that they were nothing, I found myself having emergency surgery. So I felt it was important that men start talking about issues solely related to men, which does not begin and end with Viagra stories. This episode I speak with my urologist Dr. Patel, about how to talk to our buddies about such personal issues that even discussed over beer, could save your life!

  • RAISING INTERRACIAL CHILDREN.
    Nov 29 2023
On today’s episode we talk about a subject that while not exclusively related to men, seems to be a more difficult conversation for them to have than their female counterparts. When parents talk to each other about their children typically they share when their child took their first steps or how old they were when they were potty trained.  As they get older, conversations turn to what schools are they going to, and what sports or activities are their children are engaged in. You get it, it is an ever-expanding conversation.  One topic that although is very “woke” in today’s society, is still not an average conversation — raising interracial children. This is an extra layer of stress and even sometimes served up with shame or an apology when trying to talk to our young kids about such a tough subject. I talk with writer, actor and producer Diallo Riddle — the man behind hit shows like Sherman’s Showcase and South Side — about raising interracial children.

  • WHY MEN DON'T SHARE THEIR "FAITH" AND SHOULD.
    Nov 13 2023
Pastor Todd is my local Pastor and his style and approach to religion and faith is less fire and brimstone and more like to talking to a buddy at a bar, except about The G-O-D.  In this episode, we discuss why men don’t share their faith with men like we should and why some men run from faith.

  • 'FOOD' FOR THOUGHT...WE TALK ABOUT THE DO'S & DON'TS OF EATING.
    Nov 6 2023
Food glorious food, how we all love to eat, but when men talk about food, it usually sounds like a bragging contest or an ad for the beef council.  Well I’m talking with author and former host of the talk show The Doctors, Dr. Ian Smith about why exactly men don’t talk with each other about eating healthier.  This is Things Men Don’t Talk About.
