Eden is sent to Uoria and given the task to test the blood of the Denynso. Only, that's against the rules. She doesn't want to be that close to them, anyway. From everything she'd heard about the species, they are more temperamental than her, but her boss' ultimatum gives her no choice. She goes and gets what he wants or she loses her job, her livelihood.

On Uoria, Ellora, Athan, and Mhavrych make their way back to the Mikana kingdom using a mysterious form of travel that Mhavrych won't explain but that seems to have the power to bring them far distances in mere moments. Once they've arrived, they confront Creia and Rey with what is happening, and all must decide whether they should hurry back to Penthos as fast as possible or if they should remain on Uoria longer to better prepare.

Still reeling from the final battle that eliminated the Klimnu and took one of their own, the Denynso warriors gather to honor the life of Jem and talk about the strange discovery of the mirror world beneath the compound. One warrior - volatile and unpredictable Bannack - is enraged by the existence of the other realm and the realization that none of them, not even their king, knew that it was there. Eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first child, Pyra finally agrees with Bannack, realizing that what he doesn't know about, he can't keep away from his baby.

It is the night before Rey, and the group of humans and warriors will return to the settlement to free the Mikana, and just days before, the others will climb aboard the shuttles headed for Earth so that they can celebrate Samira and Ty's long-awaited wedding. Everyone is coming down from the adrenaline of the last few days and trying to decide what they should do. With so much still left to be done on Uoria, and so many questions still left unanswered, the couples must decide where they are most needed, and how they are going to move forward from here.

It's the first in Denynso history, and no one knows what to expect or how things will go for Eden. A side effect of the healer's gift is a link bonding them together forever. Pyra is struggling to deal with his mate's attachment to Ciyrs and doesn't know what to do. The more he fights it the more the wall between him and Eden grows....

The last Klimnu attack had a much deeper impact on Ero than he thought it would. Ever since he found Leia after she killed her captor, he has been filled with aggression, anger, and a sense of violence that he just can't shake. It has caused him to get into several fights with the other warriors, who are always able to get the upper hand because Ero is so much smaller than they are. Eventually, he turns to running. He runs farther, faster, and harder than he has ever run, trying to escape the strange emotions and uncomfortable physical effects.

After days of his nameless mate being in some sort of coma, Gyyx can't take it anymore. Eliana gave him the key to make her better, but he didn't feel right, and after all the testing Ciyrs has put her through, he knows it's time to test the theory, but he still feels weird about it. He takes her home and hopes his touch will bring her back to life. He can't go on without knowing who she is, or what she suffered in the hands of the Klimnu. But when she wakes up, will Gyyx be able to convince her he isn't taking advantage of her or like the ones who kept her prisoner?

Ciyrs continues to lose his mind until he finds Eliana. However, she's come with another woman who is unconscious. No one can figure out what happened and he can't get her to wake up. Neither can Eden. Eliana feels so many things. She's happy she was saved, but she can't stop thinking about the woman she saved. Something about the woman calls to her, but in the meantime she has to deal with the fact that her mate is connected to Eden, and that means so is she. There are too many emotions to take. It's time for the Denynso to fight back.

The discovery of a mysterious rock tunnel and the realization that it might have been an integral part of Ullie's traitorous assistance of the Klimnu sends the entire clan into a flurry of action. Now fully mated to Ty and completely devoted to living her life as part of this clan and this planet, Samira dedicates herself to uncovering the mystery of the tunnel.

Zuri can't believe she let herself fall into the arms of the arrogant jerk who thinks that she is too big to be respected. The more she dislikes him, the more her body yearns for him.

With the first real battle on Penthos raging around him, Azra can't get his mind off of Elise. He fears for her safety, but just as much, he fears that she will not be able to handle everything that is happening around them and that he will lose her. His methods, however, prove destructive, and soon Maxim and Ivy have to make decisions that will determine the course of the rest of their lives.
