Reaching manhood in the tumultuous years before the Civil War, James Gould’s son Horace returns to St. Simons and finds himself disheartened by the intolerance of others on his beloved island. However, he wins the heart of his lovely neighbor Deborah Abbott, who adores her Mr. Gould and becomes his wife, despite the difference in their years. But even though she is unconcerned with his rumored past, she is saddened by his lack of faith....

Filled with romance, hardship, and adventure, this sequel to Lighthouse is a story of faith and courage that vividly portrays the antebellum South and an independent man's struggle to find happiness and his place in life.

New moon rising is a wonderful book. Especially to those of us who love historical novels about the south and it’s inhabitants over the years. Having been several times to St Simons Island I can hardly wait to go again, so I can look at it with new eyes. The narration was wonderful as well.

Wonderful book !

I’ve read all of Eugenia Price’s books years ago. Now I’m listening to them. They’re again. She’s a great writer.

Great story!

As a native of Georgia, I very much enjoyed this historic, fictional account of an extended family facing life changes brought on by the War Between The States. My only negative comment is pertaining to the reader. She did a nice job with the southern, Irish, and other accents. But she mispronounced and incorrectly placed the accent on commonly-spoken words from the south. Examples that come to mind include sweet-gum tree and jasmine. Other than that, I have enjoyed the first 2 books of the trilogy and am starting the third book now.

Enjoyed The Book

The accents used by the audio reader are ridiculous & very off-putting. I read this series of books several years ago and loved them, but listening to them being read ruined them for me.

very disappointing
