Slay monsters. Bed goddesses. Level up.

Or die trying.

Sam Ryder's life already sucks, and it's about to get worse when he's fired from his dead-end job as a programmer. He's about to head home to escape into his favorite RPG, Alien Civilization, when he's offered a thrill ride on a death machine (AKA motorcycle) by a gorgeous woman straight out of one of his games.

Before Sam can say "WTF?", he's been whisked away to a dark world of monsters and goddesses, his body transformed from Outcast to Warrior, the second level on a ladder that may eventually carry him all the way to Demigod.

Trapped in this horrifying world, Sam must find a way to reignite the dwindling army of Warriors before the legions of monsters breach the ward shields that have protected the three goddesses for centuries. His best chance is to reach the next level: Protector.

Note: Contains monster slaying, cursing, heavy violence, and a bunch of exotic goddesses and alien women. Mature listeners only.

This is a story written from the fantasies of shut in. It is enjoyable fluff at best. It really feels like an author insert character living out both his dreams and nightmares at the same time. Don't expect anything deep. That being said it is still an enjoyable listen.

Fun fluff

I hate writing reviews, it here goes. this book is worth a listen. the story is average, but good. the voice actor could pit a little more passion into his work. but outside of that, he did a good job as well.

this book is good.

this is a romance novel disguised as a fantasy book. you like heterosexual eroticism in your fantasy novels and this will be for you.

listen to this only if you'd like harlequin

So the story is okay, but is nothing special.

The premise is okay, but not especially engaging even if a fun the thought.
Which is the problem, the whole thing feels like a single thought, that was then drawn out simply to make it long enough to be a book.

I have no real complaint, just, I am also not enthralled at all either.
I am sad there were no GameLit/LitRPG elements outside of the rather vague level-ups, just could have been better here.

The performance was good but Gray seemed to try for slight voice changes and missed his cues on them, making it a bit weird, or like he was trying but didn’t really want to do different voices.

Overall, I’d still give it a 5star rating, but really only because I liked the fights and the harem-ish sex-capades.
I knew what I was getting there before I even read/listened at all, so decent enough, just past this the story was just not fleshed out enough.
