After successfully finishing his first year at Darkthorn Academy, Jack returns to Sunder with his new friend, Stannerios. Together, Jack and Stann intend to enjoy their summer preparing for their second year. But even in Sunder they aren’t safe, as they deal with street thugs and assassins. When Jack and Stann finally return to Darkthorn Academy and reunite with the rest of the team, they learn that things have changed. A new headmaster has been appointed and the rules for questers have changed drastically. Can they survive a second year at the academy or will they find a new path to success?

Books two includes even more gamelit aspects, including crafting, cultivation, a new bio-tech interface, and a few new mentors.

Dang good story!

I had a hard time putting the last two books down. Spend the credit if you like a clean story without being to young adult. It is a coming of age series so it's expected to be about teens etc.

slow story disappointing ending

not we'll written, slow story disappointing ending. I'm angry I wasted a credit on this book, I want my credit back

When the world creates Misfits, it gets mischief.

It in academy where survival is questionable, when thinks become political and power plays, those who were bullied and mistreated will have gained the most survival skills. Especially if forced to team build and study the books in the library in addition to classes.

Having a friendly Dragon to help train them, plus lots of time learning how to defeat the evil in the old world, they just might become formidable survivors acting as a team to protect themselves and their friends from the evil empire that is planning on conquering the world.

But the unexpected opposition may make it very expensive and dangerous to take over.

Good enough

A little too much YA for me, and I listen to a lot of YAs and they don’t always stand out this much. But if you can get past that, the story premise is good. The Narration tends to yell a bit much but I like the plot.
