Story
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.

Story
Herbert George Wells was one of the most prolific and visionary British writers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. H. G. Wells is now best remembered for his science fiction novels, although he wrote across many genres, including nonfiction. His fiction embraces history, science fiction, horror, satire, fantasy, and social commentary. Wells was also a futurist, foreseeing air travel, tanks (as in “The Land Ironclads” - part of this anthology) space travel, nuclear weapons, and even satellite television.

Very Disappointed
It was very hard to understand the narrator. Therefore, I did not enjoy the one story I got through.

Narration was awful...
Narrator was monotone and hard to understand. At least it was only one credit in my free trial, although I really wish I still had that credit! $23 is way too much for this collection. PASS!

Not able to listen to this one
I did not listen to enough of the sample before purchasing. What a silly mistake. The accent of the reader is very different from mine and I simply cannot understand the story because it is so distracting. Also, the accent is nothing like what the original authors would have sounded like, so this greatly detracts. Others may like this reader, but she did not work for me. I regret wasting a credit on it. I wish I could figure out how to delete the thing from my account because it will embarrass me every time I notice my silly mistake.

Narrator is terrible
The stories are ok. The narrator has a shrill voice and her accent makes her hard to understand. I will avoid books in the future narrated by her.

Hoped for better
I wish the title and author would have been used instead of chapter numbers also I think there could have been more effective narrators.

Great selection and well read
This is a great selection of stories by world class writers. I have been reading and listening to (and writing) short stories for 70+ years, and I was pleased to discover that many of the stories I had never come across before. I thought the readers did a fine job.
