Publisher's summary

The little mermaid is engaged to the Prince, but she's in love with Captain Hook. When Lexa’s father, Poseidon, is taken by a powerful enemy, the only way to get him back is for the Princess of the Sea to accept a marriage alliance with the Prince of the Shores. But her heart already belongs to Captain Hook, a broody pirate she saved from a shipwreck and nursed back to health at her island. She longs to see him again.

What she doesn’t expect, however, is to find Hook at the castle ball, standing alongside the Prince. Will Lexa follow through with the marriage alliance to save her father? Or will she fight for her happy ending? Above the Sea is the thrilling fifth installment of the Fairy Tales Reimagined series.

A number of plot holes and unbelievable characters

The story was cute and I'm a sucker for reimagined fairytales. The author did a fun job of tying different fairytales together into one universe but the character dynamics were very boring. Hook seems more like a stuffy Prince Charming than a pirate and I was really looking forward to the rugged dynamic of his character that never came. If you're just looking for a sweet story and you aren't worried about little plot holes then this is a sweet read.

would have rather read a fanfiction then this

The idea of a love story about captain hook and the little mermaid is a really compelling idea but I just don't think this story did it all that well. while reading this story I was confused by some of the story plot. Half of the time I tjough this was something I would hear from a wattpad story, and that's not a compliment. I just feel like the authors could have done a better job telling the story, I was a little disappointed with the outcome.

Wanted more

The story was a poor one. The Little Mermaid and Captain Hook being together was what made me want to read it, but it was not great. Also, the narrator drove me crazy with her mermaid voice.
