Publisher's summary

The coup that won traitor General Corian the Scourwind throne has been overturned, but his ongoing rebellion has left the empire divided. Lydia's birthright regained, she adjusts to her role as empress at war, while Brennan begins training as an elite Cadreman soldier. With tensions rising between the empire and the Alliance, this momentary lull seems to portend a gathering storm...

The royal twins aren't the only ones sensing peace may not last. Searching for a vanished supply shipment vital to her own mission of vengeance against Corian, former Cadrewoman turned pirate Mira Delsol makes a shocking discovery about the theft. As both Mira and Brennan follow similar clues to the fate of the stolen supplies, their trajectories converge. Now Mira will embark on a perilous attempt to infiltrate the heart of the enemy camp, while Brennan's path will also lead him across Alliance lines, and into a lethal confrontation with the Alliance air fleet. But will either of their efforts be enough to keep Corian from executing his plan to bring the empire to its knees once again?

Waiting for the next book in this series

Fantastic story. Can't wait to find out where the hell they are and what sort of ominous threat is coming for them and why no one seem to know about it.

Evan Currie cranks it up a notch

In a setting that seems to take place on a Dyson Sphere, sometime in the far distant future, the entire series seems to take place on a walled off reservation for humans. In book one, there is a coup against the ruling family and one two of the children survive the attack. This book is how they react to the rebellion and hints at what might be the reason behind the rebellion.

This is a world unlike any other in science fiction, how would people survive on a place with little natural resources and leaves you wondering how they came there. Who made the world?

Great world building, tight action and technologies that make you think. Like his other series, Odyssey One, Evan takes it to the edge of what is possible and expands on it. Looking forward to anything that he publishes in the future.

star wars like battles with Luke and Lei heros

If you liked Star Wars you will like the the battles in this book. even has its own kind of light sabers. I liked the world building and its mythos with the mystery.

Great story, no closure

The action and storyline were great. However, I’m disappointed this series was never finished out and leaves the listener wondering what happened next.

Great story

Evan Currie's Scourwind Series is back for that second volume. The new Empress in on her throne, but the rogue General Corrian is still strong. Now they face off as each maneuvers to outdo the other. We also get the first clues as why the Caleb Barr was built in the first place. This is a fun series and I look forward to reading more books as they come out.

Arr, you'll be regretting this one, matey

I'm not sure how a promising first novel of a series could turn so wrong in book 2 but it did. The writing went from dynamic and interesting in book 1 to bland and somewhat boring in book 2. And one of the most interesting characters in book 1, Mira Delsol, went from a Cadre bent on vengeance to someone who appeared to be just going through pirate-y motions.

Even Deric McNish's narration turned almost non-listenable. It's almost like he decided to do the narration straight from reading the book on the first go, without preparation or any sense of professionally regulating his voice.

Abysmal science

Couldn't finish it due to terrible science. For example, a ship is 300,000 miles out in space and people are walking around in their shirtsleeves.
