This book has been crafted with the intention of guiding Christian teachers in defining their role more accurately and equipping them to be more effective in training others. The ongoing debate within the Christian community regarding the most effective methods for proclaiming and teaching the Gospel remains a prominent issue. Central to this debate are the crucial aspects of evangelism and discipleship. In this particular chapter of the book, the focus will be on both of these areas and an attempt will be made to reach conclusions based on a Biblical framework.
The role of the teacher within the church is a fundamental question that needs to be addressed. Similarly, it is essential to establish just how the teacher contributes to the process of making disciples. Unfortunately, these seemingly basic questions are often left unanswered with any real precision. It appears that many Christian workers find themselves in a teaching position without having devoted sufficient thought to the nature of their task. Even those who have earnestly reflected upon their calling may still lack a clear understanding of the true objectives they are striving to achieve. This lack of clarity poses a significant hurdle to effective training.
