A six-year-old girl is kidnapped from her bed in Tennessee's oldest town.

The ransom note demands millions.

In this fifth installment of the highly-acclaimed and best-selling Joe Dillard series, Dillard is hired to represent the parents of a child who has gone missing. As the clock ticks, Dillard desperately tries to find the little girl, but the return of his wife's dreaded disease and the stunning appearance of his father combine to push Dillard to his emotional limit.

To be honest...Scott Pratt is a victim of his own success...
This book was his most "typical" book and even a stretch of a storyline.
Whereas I was blown away by his other books, this one, while good was not memorable.
For most authors a 4star solidly written book would be a win... For Mr Pratt, I'm left a little let down because his other books are so good.
The reasons are a) the storyline was much more typical legal drama with only a little twist at the end. I actually expected a much bigger twist then we got... I won't elaberate due to spoiler.
It was a good book but not memorable like his previous ones. Although some subplots were included they didn't intertwine into the Storey like they normally do. There was much less personal drama with the main character.
Mr Pratt has done such a great job of making the story about Joe Dillard and the case is merely an extension of him, that a story sticky about a case with no progress in Joe Dullards story left me feeling let down about the book.
I'm looking forward to the next one, hoping Scott Pratt gets back in the swing of things.

A good one but not the best

I thoughts this was a very good book . The author told the story ,filling in with past enough to keep you remembering, or up to present time. Thank-you.
