Terence McKenna hypothesizes that as the North African jungles receded, giving way to savannas and grasslands near the end of the most recent ice age, a branch of our arboreal primate ancestors left the forest canopy and began living in the open areas beyond. There they experimented with new varieties of foods as they adapted, physically and mentally, to the environment. Among the new foods found in this environment were psilocybin-containing mushrooms.

With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes delves into Americans' history with sugar: its uses as a preservative, as an additive in cigarettes, the contemporary overuse of high-fructose corn syrup.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Many more followed, revealing dozens of ET species and a Rosetta Stone to a new physics, an energy generation and propulsion system responsible for interstellar space travel. This new system could have easily replaced oil, gas, coal, and nuclear plants - and with them, the entire geopolitical and economic order on our planet. But a cabal of bankers, the military-industrial complex, and Big Oil stopped it.

Scientifically, spiritually, and creatively, this is not just a work of art, but is also a call to open our eyes to what's right before us. Passed down in ancient texts and written in the heavens (literally), our past and future are spelled out. Exciting, motivating, and intensely engaging!

Reader beware...
Once you have listened, you will not be able to “un-listen” or unlearn what you have heard and learned. An apocalyptic story told from the vantage point of geology, cosmology, history, archeology and mathematics; the reader is drawn into the quest for answers to unsolved answers to our most basic questions. Who are our ancestors? And, even more pressing; how will we handle the impending catastrophic climactic changes? Can we leave traces of our knowledge, signs of our existence, to future survivors of the next impending apocalypse?

Well researched and thought provoking outside of the box most modern scientists are imprisoned in. It brings together multiple aberrations in history in a coherent manner that makes sense. It’s also a warning of what may happen to us. Well done. I look forward to his other works.

This is a most excellent book!
I cannot wait to read his second and newer one. The ideas conceived in this book have so much evidence that one cannot dismiss that our ancient ancestors were magnificently brilliant. I hope to see Graham include some of the works of Peratt and the Thunderbolts project and maybe see what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) and scholar Anthony Larsen have to say concerning ancient people’s before the deluge. I will buy the hard copy of this book now.

Such an amazing read! Graham Hancock has done an amazing job researching and bringing to light some of the most relevant big questions of our place here on earth, our ancient past and the possibilities of a preginator shared ancestry. If you find archeo paleontology, history or geology at all interesting this book is an extremely thought provoking read!

Open your mind!
A fascinating read that makes you wonder about our purpose here on earth, universal oneness, and ancient civilizations.
Before starting this book, I thought that I was going to be reading about conspiracy theories and aliens, but not quite.
Hancock presents good arguments, backed by evidence and sound logic, that challenges the reader to think outside the box in relation to ancient history and our purpose as humans. Hancock asks the tough questions and isn't afraid to challenge the popular understanding of (for example) the construction of the pyramids in Egypt and the Mayan calendar. I will definitely be reading other books from this author.
