THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING DEBUT PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER YOU CAN'T MISS!

The perfect marriage? Or the perfect lie?

“A hair-raising debut, both unsettling and addictive...A chilling thriller that will keep you reading long into the night.” —Mary Kubica, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Good Girl

“This debut is guaranteed to haunt you...Warning: brace yourself.” —Bustle (10 New Thrillers to Read This Summer)

The sense of believably and terror that engulfs Behind Closed Doors doesn't waver.” —The Associated Press, picked up by The Washington Post

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth; she has charm and elegance. He’s a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. You’re hopelessly charmed by the ease and comfort of their home, by the graciousness of the dinner parties they throw. You’d like to get to know Grace better.

But it’s difficult, because you realize Jack and Grace are inseparable.

Some might call this true love. Others might wonder why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. Or why she never seems to take anything with her when she leaves the house, not even a pen. Or why there are such high-security metal shutters on all the downstairs windows.

Some might wonder what’s really going on once the dinner party is over, and the front door has closed.

From bestselling author B. A. Paris comes the gripping thriller and international phenomenon Behind Closed Doors.

Critic reviews

<p>“Debut-novelist Paris adroitly toggles between the recent past and the present in building the suspense of Grace’s increasingly unbearable situation, as time becomes critical and her possible solutions narrow. This is one readers won’t be able to put down.” —<b>BOOKLIST, Starred Review</b><br><br><br>"Newlyweds Grace and Jack Angel seem to lead a perfect life in British author Paris's gripping debut, but appearances can be deceiving...Grace's terror is contagious, and Millie's impending peril creates a ticking clock that propels this claustrophobic cat-and-mouse tale toward its grisly, gratifying conclusion." —<b>PUBLISHERS WEEKLY </b><br><br><br>"The writing was incredible, and the pace is quick, offering up too many chills to count...<i>Behind Closed Doors </i>screams: Stay single!” —<b>SUSPENSE MAGAZINE</b><br><br><br><br>"This debut is guaranteed to haunt you — especially if you're about to tie the knot. Jack and Grace, the couple at the center of this totally enthralling novel, are so clearly not what they seem you'll have no choice but to read and read and read until their darkest secrets are revealed. Warning: brace yourself." —<b>BUSTLE</b><br><br><b>"</b>[Georgia Maguire's] overall narration is calm and elegant but emotional and alarming during the horrific moments Grace experiences." -<b><i>AudioFile</i></b></p>

This book makes you want to know what happens at the end... but the process is so painful and annoying. So you listen and you are frustrated and horrified but intrigued. The best thing to do now, is skip ahead to the last hour and find out what happens. And if you are a dog lover....

Just don't

first of all let me say thanks to Audible I was able to complete this story. I the past and present was a little annoying, but I got used to it and was able to keep up with what was going on. this story seem like something that could not happen but I know that it could be cuz it's happening every day in home everywhere around the world and it's scary. whether I like it or not this is someone's reality, but believe me I would have been free long before she finally discovered a way out. I think her concern for her sister was just exaggerated. she gave this man too much credit and too much power over her life and I wanted her to do something I wanted her to go into a phone booth and put on her Wonder Woman outfit. I wanted her to stop being wimpy.

Man, I wanted to slap this woman

...but none the less entertaining. Narration was great. Initially I found the story quite engaging and suspenseful. After the first third of the book it began to be so far fetched I no longer felt the psychological suspense. But still found it not a total loss and hung in til the end

A BIT FAR FETCHED

Where does Behind Closed Doors rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's far above them all. I read it in one day. Just couldn't turn it off.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The storyline will make a great movie. It's on a par with Julia Roberts movie Sleeping with the Enemy. This is a MUST READ and the narrator was perfect.

Any additional comments?

This book ranks ahead of any I've read in a very long time. The storyline, narrator, the vivid characters bring this story to life.

THE BEST NOVEL SO FAR!

First of all I almost couldn’t listen any longer after the incident with the dog. Second, I find this story very unbelievable. Most people probably wouldn’t behave like grace in that situation and I find it highly unlikely that a doctor and police officer would just dismiss her claims. Not a realistic story and kind of dragged on for way too long. The narrator was good though.

A little far fetched
