About this listen
You can raise good kids!
Loving Our Kids on Purpose combines the principles of the Kingdom of God and revival to form a powerful strategy for parents.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. (2 Corinthians 3:17). Rather than the traditional approaches that train children to learn to accept being controlled by well-meaning parents and adults, this book teaches parents how to train children to manage their freedoms and protect their important heart-to-heart relationships.
Children were designed with the core need of freedom. To deny this or live ignorant of it eventually destroys the trust connection between parent and child.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.(1 John 4:18 NKJV).
Loving Our Kids on Purpose introduces paradigms, perceptions, skills, and ideas that will help parents reduce fear by eliminating the tool of punishment, and strengthening the core character of their children by empowering their self-control and value for their relationship with their parents.

Story
The Culture of Honor is a book of reformation. It is intended to disrupt our current model of authority. Jesus put it like this in Matthew 20:25-26: "But Jesus called them to Himself and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. Those with power must learn to empower those around them or we will never build Heaven on the Earth."

Living with humans is messy. Our children make messes. Our spouses and friends make messes. So do our coworkers, bosses, pastors, and presidents...and so do we. Messes are scary, painful, and offensive. And whether we're dealing with the pain of a personal failure, the frustration of a disrespectful child, the devastation of a major betrayal, the stress of a workplace conflict, or the fallout of larger social injustices, classically we react the same way - with fear, shame, and punishment.

Story
For too long, the popular understanding of Christian salvation has been limited to securing a place in heaven. Sadly, many Christ-followers experience constant defeat during their time on Earth. The biblical concept of salvation comes from the Greek word "Sozo" and has a holistic implication. Power and victory flowed through the New Testament Church because the early Christians understood how to live out their salvation in a way that impacted every area of their lives - spirit, soul, and body.

Both science and the Bible show us that the most important thing we can provide for our kids is a place of emotional safety. Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family, is an expert in fatherhood - in part because his own 'fathers' failed him so badly. His biological dad was an alcoholic. His stepfather deserted him. His foster father accused Jim of trying to kill him. All were out of Jim's life by the time he turned 13. Isn't it odd - and reminiscent of the hand of God - that the director of the leading organization on family turned out to be a guy whose own background as a kid and son were pretty messed up?

Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. From discouraged to excited
I was getting discouraged with my parenting. I'm a high school teacher and a father of two young boys.
I was letting my anger control my parenting and my classroom through threats and passive aggressive behavior. This book gave me hope and practical tools and phrases to use.
I already see a difference and look forward to opportunities to correct my children and students. Sounds cheesy, but it's true.

Life Changing
I would recommend this book to everyone raising children ... My prayer is for the Lord to ingrain into my brain these truths that I have missed all these years ... I have so messed up this parenting thing in so many ways ...with all of my good intentions!!! I have been parenting out of pure fear ... thinking that I could control behavior! Fear of failure ....I have failed miserably ...

Most worthwhile audiobook I’ve heard yet
This will change your life! The reader speaks at a tempo that allows you to really absorb what’s being said, without it being laggy. And the inflections of various voices helps in really “seeing” the scenarios described. Listened to this book while I drove to and from work. Will definitely listen through again and again! This stuff takes time to become habit, and eventually character. Thank you to the team that put this together!

Changed the way I parent!
I had to slow down and read this in small sections because it was so counterintuitive to how I was raised. Every time I would pick up this book it would further smooth off those rough edges. Putting these practices in place has uncrowded my heart from a controlling Mom to a connection based Mama who can be open and honest with her family. I see now the struggles my own parents had raising me and how so many issues that grew and that needed to heal could’ve been prevented by facilitating a healthy relationship. This book is full of healing wisdom and the very heartbeat of heaven for everyone you meet.
