Publisher's summary

A senior American security adviser is missing, presumed kidnapped for his top-level military intelligence. FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein needs to track him down before classified information gets into the wrong hands. She needs Jon Reznick on board.

The former black-ops assassin is supposed to be on vacation with his daughter, but when Meyerstein calls, it doesn't pay to keep her waiting. Her elite team is convinced that the missing diplomat's expertise in the Persian Gulf points to an Iranian terrorist cell, but Reznick isn't so sure. His gut instinct tells him they're all wrong. Never one to play by the rules, he finds himself working alone, following a lead that everyone else has dismissed. But to Reznick, the suspect seems a little too clean...

When the team comes under attack, the kidnapping is exposed as part of a much wider conspiracy, one far more dangerous than Meyerstein feared. Nothing and nobody is safe—and only Jon Reznick stands between national security and a campaign of unprecedented terror.

Finally, truth in fiction instead of propaganda.

Americans wake up to understand how it really works. While many authors use the clichés of the War on Terror for their novels, now other authors are doing their job and reflecting reality. This book is more than fiction, but a carefully told story about what should have happened after JFK, 911, and you name it. There is a cancer eating our country and only good people not looking away will preserve our future. Is this your country or does it belong to an oligarchy who runs us as a plantation? The news will never tell you the truth, but courageous people everywhere are. Support them and stand you for what is right. We are not commodities, but spiritual human beings. Act like it. Bravo to be writers who decide against a nice paycheck if it means being ignorant or selling out. Amen.

Good story

A bit too many repetitive phrases... He/she blew out her lips, they could feel their stomach knor. And the relationship changed throughout the story. Given they were addressing an Deputy director of the FBI I don't image folks would address her by her first name and then last name alternatively. Seemed a bit too informal.

What ever happened to the missing girl and what was that relationship all about?

Otherwise a good story with likeable characters.

Intrigue and betrayal

There is a complex plot that Meyerstein and Reznick work to unravel, ultimately leading to several deaths and the President saved. The story is full of intrigue and betrayal. The narration is very good and the book is very entertaining!!

The End

I just finished all 5 book and if the 5th book was the last , it wasn't a great ending to Jon Reznick.

Loved the Story

1. Audible performance can be trying and when you listen to different readers your brain critiques, As I get into audiobooks I find a like to listen to them at a faster rate [1.20-1.30] which the app allows you to set,
2. At a higher rate I enjoyed the reader, at normal rate I would have shut it down.
This is the second Jon Reznick book I've done. I think J.B. Turner has a great character and this is a story that has one following it trying to sort it out. Good intrigue, good action, good character interaction. I enjoyed listening to this book, a lot. It's worth a venture if you are looking around looking for an action figure and government intrigue/'conspiracy. I'm a Jack Reacher fan and I am now also a Jon Reznick fan, I feel the same about the first book and this one refers to situations in it.

From assassin to FBI consultant...

Reznick is back and he's teamed up with the FBI once more. That a bit of an unexpected turn for the character given that he was first introduced as an assassin. Now he's forsaken his full-black operational status to team up with the FBI as a consultant? The transition isn't logical and it's never appropriately explained over the course of the book. It almost feels like Reznick is just going with the flow, even if that flow involves terrorists and counterespionage investigations.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the character's career motivations, but the book makes for a compelling adventure. Bring on book #3!
