Absolutely fantastic book, compliments youtube

If you have or are planning on getting a dog or puppy, this is a fantastic book! I listened to it over and over as it was so jam packed with information, yet it was an enjoyable and engaging listen. Zak is dynamic and interesting, as well as incredibly knowledgeable. So far everything we have done according to his book is working wonderfully. Not only that, but I am actually teaching my cat to sit on command, based on his methods! She is almost there. Our boy cat has been able to sit for years, but our girl cat could never figure it out. Using Zac's methods, she is figuring it out! He doesn't go in depth into the science of why to do these techniques, but there is a LOT of science backing up his methods. The book is a good compliment to his youtube channel. On video you can see the techniques, but the book presents the information in a more systematized way. Highly recommend!

This is the one I’ve been looking for! 

I have read so many dog training books, and hired so many trainers, I can’t even remember them all. Not everything I’ve read or been told, resonated with me, but I always tried it anyway. Unfortunately, I’ve also always had mixed results with those other training programs. This is the one I have been looking for all along. Every single thing that Zach George says by way of explanation or instruction completely resonated with me. It all just felt right in a way that so many of the other instructional books did not. I started working with my dog about halfway through this book and we’ve had maybe three training sessions, by the time I just finished it. I am already seeing so much more progress with my extremely anxious and reactive dog than I did after months of using other programs. I was looking for the nuts and bolts behavioral instructions, which were a small percentage of this book. But the concepts that I learned overall, and the specific guidance around behavior issues were awesome. This book guides you through the entire process of deciding if a dog is right for you, how to choose one, how to choose their Vet, how to choose their food, etc. So this is a really great book for anyone even considering getting a dog. It asks you all the questions that you should be asking yourself. If you’re even thinking about getting a dog, buy this book. It’ll save you so much grief in the long run. I can’t wait to read his next book, I’m gonna start it today!

excellent book.

this book is truly excellent. He outlines very specifically and enthusiastically about how to create a relationship with your dog based on respect, care and consistency. His approach is science-based and does away with the cruel and unscientific methods of dog training from the past. A wonderful read for anybody considering getting a new puppy or even brushing up on the relationship with an older dog. I highly recommend it.
