"Did you have relations with my brother?"
Good question.
I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met who just so happens to be my new friend’s brother.
My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.
But so far, I’ve managed to be called into the principal’s office; I've been coerced into participating in the teacher's badminton league; and I've instigated passionate fights with Arlo Turner over education and decorum while losing my underwear at the same time.
Known as Mr. Turns Me On, he’s the reason I might get fired from my first ever teaching job.

You will hate the male lead, Arlo, from the get go. When I say enemies to lovers, I don't mean in the traditional "he's really annoying," too much of a player or the leads clash through sarcasm. Arlo and Greer are literally pitted against each other from the moment she starts her new job. They flight over teaching methods, they fight over book choices, they fight over just about everything from moment one. And for a large part of the book, you think there is no way Arlo can possibly redeem himself, but, oh, boy, does he ever.
This was a really great story, and Zachary Webber and Erin Mallon narrated so well! For Zachary to make us hate Arlo and then turn around and love him, well, his performance was great. Arlo's grand gesture at the end is nothing short of a Jane Austen miracle. And through it all, Zachary was able to portray the disdain, the miscomprehension, the grudging respect, the transformation to respect and love - all of the emotions that Arlo went through. Erin Mallon, as Greer, was fantastic and spot-on in her comedic delivery, as well as her heartache.
Great listen. Highly recommend.

This book is hilarious and just so much more than I expected in general. The chemistry between Arlo and Greer is outstanding and the rest of the supporting characters just drive home everything that makes this read so much fun.
Erin Mallon and Zachary Webber give performances that are incredible (as always), making this one of the best books I've listened to in 2020!
So Funny!
