What's life like on the tenure track?

For Assistant Professor of Sociology Dr. Deja Evans, it sucks. Hard. Every day.

Between the class prep, the meetings, grading student work, trying to find time to complete her own research and the meetings, she didn't have a life, she had a digital calendar that decided whether she got to wallow in her feelings at three p.m. or seven p.m., on Thursday or maybe Sunday. And the worst meeting of them all was the two-and-a-half-hour, once-a-month Faculty Senate, which was drier than her dating life, duller than her skin in winter, and far longer than her attention span.

The only thing that made those never-ending Faculty Senate meetings bearable was watching Dr. Alejandro Mendoza, associate professor of history, breathe. For years, Deja had harbored a kind of secret crush on the sexiest man on campus never thinking that he would ever feel the same, until one unexpected day, they have a steamy after-hours encounter in her office and suddenly her life seems much more exciting.

That lasts about half a minute.

Over the course of a hectic academic year, Deja tries to survive her classes, help her students, prepare herself for her third-year review, and most important of all, she has to learn how to get out of her own way and just let Alejandro love her.

Great feel good listen!

I really enjoyed listening to this book and learning about Deja and Alejandro. This was my first book by this author and think she did a great job keeping the story interesting and relatable. This was also my first time hearing narration by Gomez and I enjoyed his voice. He did a great job with the characters and has a really nice voice. Last but most definitely not least, the reason I chose to spend this credit in the first place was because of my girl Wesleigh who ALWAYS does an amazing job! I loved her in this read as I do in everything she narrates. She brings 100% in all of her work and is simply amazing!!

Excellent voice acting

Loved the narration! Wesleigh Siobhan and Gomez Pugh nailed these characters. The story was just okay, a little long at times, but both voice actors embodied Deja and Alejandro perfectly.

The heroine was a hard sell

Enjoyed the story. Alejandro carried the book and Daja was difficult to root for. The supporting cast was a comedic addition that I appreciated.

Sexy Academic Romance

I read the book before I listened to the book. The male was a bit robotic but i loved the story so much that I had to keep going. Wesleigh is one of my fave narrators but the guy is new to me. I needed more emotion from him. But the story was so damn good... you can forgive him.

Excellent Adult Read

Loved both characters. No unnecessary drama mature people. I loved it. Sex was believable. Just good.
