Erratic and Underwhelming

I’ve listened to more than half of the book and writing the review because I’m not sure I’ll finish it. The writing is better in quality than I expect from self published authors. But the main character and storytelling are the book’s weakness.

In particular, I can’t get a handle on the MCs personality or decision making. One minute she’s a calculated schemer, the next she’s a reactionary blow hard. In the beginning we see her excellent prowess in battle but in every battle afterward she brings a knife to sword fight! She’s thrown away her only weapon twice and yielded any advantages she’s had. The author established her as a bad a*s warrior but then she mostly just behaves like and a*s.

No serious complaints about the narrator.

i really enjoyed the dark aspect of the story I always hated heroes they're so one-dimensional
