This box set includes all three books in the bestselling Mage's Apprentice series, complete with sinister magic, nonstop action, enemies-to-lovers romance, and twists you won't see coming!

A magic-less thief apprenticed to the strongest Mage on the New York City Council. What could possibly go wrong . . .

Aspen is a Norm. A non-magic. A human. And in this supernatural city, that's a quick way to wind up dead. Or worse.

She didn't plan on becoming an apprentice to Lucien Dunadine, one of the strongest members on the Council of Mages.

She really didn't plan on taking part in a deadly competition against Isak Uchida, her handsome, aggravating, deadly opponent.

But with something sinister going down in the magic boroughs, they'll all have to work together if they want to uncover the source of an ancient evil threatening their home. An evil that will take them from the supernatural streets of New York to the magic-filled Highlands of Scotland; from facing off against the vicious Kings of Magic to taking on the most powerful dark force their world has ever known.

And if they fail, everyone and everything they love will be consumed by darkness.

This was a well written book with mages as a governing body and an evil villain that will take over the world if not defeated. It focuses on one young girl that gets roped into being a mage's apprentice - and her journey. Enjoy!

well written book

An intricately woven plot with characters you can emphasize with and root for. 32 hours of action, angst, budding romance and of course in this one Three for the price Big Bads. Don't think this is your usual growing up and coming into magic tale, it is as refreshing as a new day. You will go from one book to the next, because you HAVE to know what is going to happen next. A not to be missed trilogy by Sean Fletcher. Emily Lawrence brings life to the characters and scenes as the superb narrator she is.

Narration and story telling were inventive and easy to fall into. The story moves relatively quickly and you'll fall in love with the characters.

Fun fantasy with a twist

Let's start with the negative: The production has areas where the narration is cut off so you miss words which is distracting. However, you do not lose the ability to piece together what was intended to be said. In the beginning of narration the female uses a nasally speaking voice that is irritating to say the least. However, this is improved as the narration progresses. I'm not sure if that is supposed to be a marker of increasing maturity but truly all it does is grate on the nerves. I almost stopped listening just for that reason.

Story- There are times when the characters are very slow mentally to keep up with the data to assess the situation. It makes the audience think that these "leaders" are dimwitted.

PROS
Overall a well written series. I was engaged despite the above issues. I was able to tell who was talking without being told because the narrator did an excellent job on character voices. Good pace. I was invested which helped me move past the flaws mentioned above. I know that most authors have limited funds to make their books come to life in audiobooks and just a little editing would greatly enhance what is already a very good series.

THE OVERALL TAKE
Despite the issues stated under negatives I enjoyed listening to this series and do recommend anyone who enjoy young adult fantasy to give it a shot.

Has flaws but worth the listen.
