A library girl with a secret. A dark and fiery prince. When he awakens her magic, there's no going back.

The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world.

Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she's known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she's always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla's indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.

Get ready for an epic fantasy, filled with romance and adventure, in Air Awakens, the first book in a completed five book series. This recording is the second edition audiobook, released in 2022.

I’ve loved this story, and this world, so deeply since the very first time I read it. I’m pretty sure I’m on my fourth read at this point, and the second edition of these audiobooks are GOOD!

I LOVE Caitlin Kelly as Vhalla. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I do think Caitlin’s voice fits the role so much better than in the first edition audiobooks.

She did change some of the accents around from the first editions, which I’m still unsure of, since they aren’t even what was in my head when I read the first time through. However, her accents are quite beautiful, whichever she puts on. If you were a fan of the first editions, be aware that the voices are going to be much different than what you’re used to.

That said, I highly recommend these new editions of the Air Awakens audiobooks! I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of them!

LOVE this story!

This really got me out of a reading slump. Vhalla is such an interesting character and I can’t wait to see her grow. Prince Aldrik <3 swoon. He really gave me Zuko vibes sometimes

I had read this book and now I listened to the audio. The narrator did a fantastic job with the text and voices of the characters.

The magic system is simple, but complex enough to keep you interested. Vhalla being a library apprentice hit close to home for me. Her discovery of her magic had me wondering what would happen next. The romance is slow burn is a forced proximity kind of deal but that's only in the beginning. The bond between the two in compelling and just enough was left out for it to be expanded on in later books. Politics in this book were not overbearing and helped pushed the story along. This being a debut novel for Elise only makes me appreciate it more. The ending isn't a cliff hanger but very much reads into another book.

Once again, great writing that made me forget I was listening to a book.

Great Story and Narration

The audiobook was narrated by Caitlin Kelly whose voice fit the characters, especially the protagonist, the unwitting sorcerer Vhalla Yarl. There was no need for a full cast as the narrator managed to create subtly different voices for each of the characters encountered in the book. The narration started with Vhalla who has been taught to fear a magic society called the Tower of Sorcerers. She unknowingly saved a powerful sorcerer, the Crown Prince Aldrik. Now, she must choose whether to leave the life she knew and embrace sorcery or remain where she was and eradicate her magic. The book only got more interesting from there. It had elemental magic and sorcery, romance, and war between kingdoms. The narration helped me better understand the book as it felt like Vhalla herself was teaching me everything I needed to know in a pace I could follow. I didn't feel like the narration dragged on which might make a book longer than it actually was. The flow was easy to understand as the book moved from one chapter to the next. The narrator gave justice to the book and the reading style brought the book to life. By listening to this audiobook, I was swept away into the world of the book. I didn't even realize that the audio was coming to a close.
I believe that Vhalla still had lots of things to improve about herself and her sorcery, so I'm looking forward to it and her journey in the next books. I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series! Overall, this audiobook made me fall in love with the series more. I will definitely purchase the next book in this series.

The narrator gave justice to the book. Well done!
