Lucy Score
Best-selling author Lucy Score returns to Knockemout, Virginia, following fan-favorite Things We Never Got Over with Knox's brother Nash's story.
Police Chief Nash Morgan is known for two things: Being a good guy and the way his uniform accentuates his butt. Two bullets put a dent in that Southern charm but—thankfully—spared his spectacular rear end.
He’s got his hands full with the man who shot him still on the loose, healing wounds, and citizens who think of the law as more of a “guideline”. Throw in the gloomy mood that clings to him, and the last thing he needs is a smart-mouthed, gorgeous new neighbor making him feel things he doesn’t have the energy to feel.
Lina has her reasons for being in town. She’s on a mission and the fewer people that find out about it, the better. She does her best work alone, and as soon as she finds what she’s after, she’s hitting the road for the next solo adventure.
Too bad the town of Knockemout has other ideas. Soon Lina finds herself sucked into small-town life.

Featured Article: The top 100 series of all time
The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

There’s some pretty fiery chemistry between Nash and Lena from the very beginning. Now she is recovering from a pretty traumatic incident that happened in book one. Lema also has some trauma issues of her own from her teenage years. They find they share a particular struggle, for which Lena knows a few tricks. She ends up being the one person that Nash can truly find comfort in. They are instantly attracted to one another, but neither wants to go down that road. We all know how this is going to end up. It’s a crazy, thrilling, and sometimes even pretty tense ride.
Lucy Score has such a wonderful way of writing, quirky, eccentric, and just delightful side characters, especially the senior citizen crowd. She did it in the Riley Thorne books, and she does it here, too, with Mrs. Tweedy and the sweating with the oldies gang. They are so much fun. We get a lot of our favorite characters from the first book in the series. things We Never Got Over, including Knox and Naomi, Waylay, who is just as sassy and snarky and smart, as she was in the first book. She’s even more fun, I think in this book We get to know a little more about Sloane and Lucian in the lead up to their book, Things We Left
Behind, which comes out in September. I for one can’t wait for this one.
The mystery in this book is actually really well done. I thought I had a few things figured out, and I was pleasantly surprised when I didn’t. As for the narration. Lila Winters, and Sebastian York were perfect for our main characters. Of course, I’ve always had a voice crush on Mr. York. For me, he can do no wrong. I have not listen to much of Miss Winters narration in the past, but I will definitely look for more done by her as she did a really nice job.
