Publisher's summary

Sabashton "Ash" Jackson is a hard working kid from the streets who's just trying to survive the grind while he works two jobs to pay for college. Or at least he was until some lunatic sets off the apocalypse and he wakes up in the Infinity Construct, a magic based virtual reality game that feels indistinguishable from the real world.

Now, he’s not even sure he’s still human. He might be turning into a god.

After meeting the mysterious "Doc" in digital limbo and learning he's the only freaking person from Earth that remembers what happened, Ash is gifted a magical avatar with the potential for awesome power.

In return, he's tasked with the simple chore of saving humanity by stopping the Corruptor himself from permanently enslaving the last of mankind. Meanwhile, back on Earth, unbeknownst to our reluctant hero, two unknown allies band together to try and pull off an impossible mission that just may be the last hope to keep Ash from falling into the Corruptor's evil trap.

About the series: The eminent destruction of our planet set in motion by a petty madman sets the stage for this apocalyptic thrill ride. When the apocalypse kicks off, our woefully unprepared protagonist is quickly eaten alive by a wave of self-replicating nanites. Instead of dying, he discovers his entire consciousness has been uploaded into a virtual universe filled with magic and adventure.

Follow Ash and his growing band of allies as he struggles to master his new powers and save the last of humanity from an eternity of enslavement. This series features a heavy focus on character growth and storyline. Complete with just enough of the progression, spells, skills, and game mechanics you've come to expect from the genre, without being overwhelmed every time the main character buys a glass of water or stubs his toe.

Warning: Parental guidance suggested. This book contains adult language, graphic violence, and suggestive material that may not be suitable for minors.

Great introduction

This is a great starting point for what I am sure is to become a fantastic series. The characters were cool and the plot was engaging. The narration was very well done.

not a story of numbers

This was a fun and creative work of post apocalyptic fiction. It brings together the stories of a fantastical land and what is happening in the real world. In the game world we have a well developed MC who is out of place in his surroundings but with determination finds magic which had disappeared and builds relationships throughout the book. Being LitRPG it's not a constant drone of XP gains and stat updates, it's about the adventure and story. the narration is better than most and easy to enjoy. looking forward to the next book.

Well Worth The Listen

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters are relatable and the narrator made them come alive. I love how the author has mixed adventure, fantasy, scifi, humor, and even romance in an RPG environment that made me want to be in the game.

This was an unexpected gem.

I never know what I'm gonna get with a new author, But I was between books and the sample sounded interesting so I gave it a shot. The writing was actual pretty solid for a debut. Nothing amazing, but everything made sense and I thought all in all it was well written. The MC is clever and funny and the girls in the book are actual characters and not just empty headed trophies. I liked most of the side characters too, even the bad guy. Memphis is my favorite.

The mechanics are pretty good and I like the idea of basing everything on whatever real 'stats' a person had when they got uploaded. It didn't have tons of actual stat pages (which was kind of refreshing actually) but the author did a good job of reminding you of them when it mattered. Plus, it had a pretty cool system that was easy to follow. The magic is more of a channeling concept then a huge collection of spells, but the book spends a good amount of time exploring magic in a day to day setting from a realistic point of view.

As far as the audio goes, the narrator is pretty solid and the voices were great. It's got a wide range of characters and he brought them all to life with different voices for every one. It's got some good one liners and lots of old movie references. I laughed out load more then once. All in all, I thought the book did a good job of being believable and still having an exciting story without taking itself to seriously. Plus, its the kind of thing that feels possible for real. I could see something like this actually happening in my lifetime. Over all it was worth the listen and I'll definitely be back for book 2.

I picked up the eBook version first, enjoying it enough to try the audio. It was well worth the credit.

I had a lot of fun listening to this. great voices

This was a really fun book. I like where it's going and I really like the cast. Good solid premise. The book takes a little bit to get going but the world is good and it's worth the burn. It's not stat heavy, which I like. Definitely looking forward to the next one.

Amazing Narrator telling a great adult story

First I will say I appreciated Barkley’s warning at the start of the book that it not appropriate for kids, have you headphones ready if you have young ears in your house

Snyder is an Amazing narrator, the voice changes add depth to the story line. I will definitely looking in to his other works.

The story has well detailed characters and I love that the author has thrown in little pop culture details in the story as it reminds you that this is not Sebastian’s “normal” life.

I have already down loaded the next book.

Interesting New World

I came into the book with an open mind and overall I thought it was a good book. The narrator was great and did a good job when switching between characters. As someone who is fan of more crunchy LITRPGs I enjoyed this books stats. I do find it harder to get into it at some points as he is basically being made into a God of this new realm. Overall, I enjoyed it and will be interested to see where it goes from here.
