Publisher's summary

Beers. Oktoberfest. The Apocalypse.

Leading astrophysicist Liam Jackson is participating in a scientist exchange program in Germany when a curveball of universal proportions is thrown at him. Planes fall from the sky, cars explode, and strange particles rain down from the heavens as monsters appear out of thin air.

The laws of physics have changed in the world. The fundamental forces of the universe are behaving differently, and Liam needs to understand them if he wants to survive.

Physics of the Apocalypse is a LitRPG series that combines the wonders of the cosmos with magic and science. Find out what base-building can look like in a medieval castle, how 3D printing can be used to create magic items, and how spacetime, nuclear, and quantum physics are combined with spellcasting.

Amazing read!

Can't express how much fun this read is. Seeing the various litRPG tropes explained in SciFi-level detail is an absolute delight. It's a much slower read than the usual LitRPG, but it pays off big time at the end. This book elevates the genre, and I'm glad to have read it.

Very Good all around. Top 10 in genre. Minimal Complaints. Written with a refreshingly more mature adult mindset.

Good all around, Minor side character depth issues, But it's all within acceptable levels and overall the book is quite good. My only weird complaint is that every chapter has one of those Historical Qoutes as a header. You'll stumble across this rarely in books.. Either they have real world quotes or "Historical" quotes from the fantasy world. it's usually annoying to find in a book. it's annoying in this book.

Better than the reviews imply

This is a good read. Got lost in the story. Performance was good too. Wish there was more base building.

Review

Overall a pretty good audible book. I’m looking forward to the next installment. there were some missed opportunities, but I could see where the author was trying to do. Hopefully it makes the necessary adjustment in the next installment.

Good story concept and world design

Minor spoiler about some of the base building in this review be warned.

I’ve really enjoyed the story and the power system in place. I’m still new somewhat to litrpg’s and the different power systems so I don’t know if it’s unique but I do like it. I’ve only got one problem and it’s how naive the main character and his 2 main companions can be at times. One example is when a requirement shows up for upgrading the core of their base that says they must win or prevent a guild/faction war they kind of brush past it and think it’s not a possibility or at least that’s what I felt from that part. But they didn’t seem to acknowledge or think of how yes the world has changed but the simple fact that if one country or civilization wanted what another had it’s very common to go to war and try to take it. These are my thoughts on it but I could be wrong or have mistaken that situation either way I do think this is a solid book and look forward to the next one.

Enjoy able novel perfect Narrator

I actually felt smarter after listening to this it was an enjoyable read At first leveling up didn't seem like a priority to the MC and he started off wanting to know more about the how's and why's of the system but he progressing into realizing he needs to grow to survive.

The MC is a white knight who thinks his "scientific mind" can solve just about everything, but the supporting character he travels with balancing it out so it doesn't get to a point where it becomes too bad.

His class is pretty cool. Personally I think the spells and skill of his class are too scientific in terms of name and description but it Fits the theme. Overall it was an enjoyable listen.

A novel perspective

I can see what people mean by saying it's a slower pace than a lot of other litrpg's, but it's not bad. It feels like it was written by someone with the same perspective and way of thinking as the MC, which isn't uncommon. I'm going to bullet point some things:
- MC is quite intelligent, far more so than I, but shows a spectacular lack of wisdom at times.
- Focusing on a single Stat while ignoring all the rest makes 0 sense in terms of actual survival.
- Pretty much a 'Chosen One' type story, where the MC has quite a bit of plot armor, but it doesn't prevent bad things happening.

It Ok

The book starts of great but midway through there doesn’t seem to be any more character progression outside of gaining new powers or rooms. A lot of the characters start to feel flat as they move from one scenario to the next.
