He’s the billionaire Beast of Calico Cove, and I’m his sacrificial lamb…I mean, his new employee.

Malcolm Bettencourt is a recluse with a nasty scar across his face and a bad attitude. He has a bone to pick with my family over a loan my dad can't pay back, so to save our lobster business, I agree to be his live-in housekeeper and cook.

We have nothing in common, and there’s no reason to think he would want anything to do with someone like me. Except I can’t stop thinking about him, and he can’t stop looking at me.

This Beauty and the Beast retelling includes a grumpy hero, a sassy heroine looking to lose her v-card, and a Pretty Woman moment with a black Am-Ex. Oh, and an age-gap romance with someone who may or may not be her lobster.

I just didn’t like the male narrator’s version of the female voice. The story was sweet with a little bit of spice. Definitely a modern beauty and the beast.

I really sweet story

I liked this Beauty and the Beast retelling. It has a little spice and little angst and a little humor. Mal with the pillow was perfect. I’m really sorry but the narrators just didn’t hit with me.

It’s a compelling book, love this whole series. Samantha Britmoor is solid as always, She does a good female voice and a great male voice for a woman, amazing actually. She does turn a lot of non question statements into questions which is a vocal tick but maybe it’s cute. It’s ok but I’d prefer less questions. My beef here is with the male narrator, Wayne Mitchell does a great dude voice but his female voice sounds like he’s holding his nose and voices her as an annoying child. This shouldn’t have gone to publication, that should have been corrected. If I hadn’t already bought this I’d just read the book not listen.

Make Narrator annoying female voice

This is a very low key mellow sexy love story that I actually enjoyed. PROS: Cute story, fun banter, some spice thrown in. CONS: The male narrator should NEVER read a woman’s part in a book again, terrible ugh! Even with the cringy female impersonation the story is still cute and fun, glad I listened to it.

Not bad

This was an enjoyable & entertaining retelling of Beauty & The Beast. A slow burn, age-gap small town romance that gave me all the swoony feelings.
Enjoyed both of the narrators.
