The king's magnificent palace was built in a matter of weeks. No one saw the builders, no villagers are allowed beyond the gilded gate, and only one servant has ever left. The haunted look in her eyes as she was recaptured by the palace guards is something Josie, daughter of the village doctor, has never forgotten. For Josie, the palace is a mystery that grows more intriguing after she meets the captain of the guards, a man known only as Hammer, as mysterious and captivating as the palace itself. Whispers of magic fuel Josie's desire to uncover the truth, but an ordinary girl like her can only dream of ever being invited inside.

Falling in love is a luxury people like us don’t have. He’s at the top of his field, and I’m at the top of mine. It’s only a matter of time before ambition calls and one of us walks away. Great Book! Fun, creative, insightful, with great characters and shockingly contemporary political satire. I highly recommend it

Nina Finch isn't suited for a life of crime. Raised by her art-forger brother, she can paint like Botticelli. But she'd so much rather be baking gooseberry tarts. She finally has the money she needs to open her own bakery. Story Come to Life
I’m a big fan of Mary Jane Wells. As a reader she is not only extremely pleasant to listen to she is also exceptional at bringing the various characters to life with distinct personalities and voices. I LOVE Chinook!!! The story is terribly romantic without being sappy. I loved it and hope to find more similar stories by Kathryn Trattner.

too much description and internal thought
DNF.. it was just tedious sometimes with no where near enough dialogue. I reached Part 2 and still did not care one bit for the characters.
