Really enjoyed this

Just a pleasant read with enjoyable character power growth. The MC is pragmatic, likable and clever, his unique skill and means of growth fun and the setup of Gods using the mortals as pawns interesting. I did grow a little tired of the constant secrecy, but it looks like that might be put to rest with his party, for now.

I think the only negative thing I have to say about it is flirting with dwarf girls and complimenting their beards gives me the heeby jeebies. Thankfully, nothing serious happens there.

Exactly what I hoped for.

The main character is OP but still faces trials. The pacing is great. The narrator gives an excellent performance. Loved listening throughout. Can't wait for the next book.

Awesome, weak to strong, MC must hide ability

This book was a great little adventure, and I pretty much listened to it straight through. I wanted a good light novel, and this one really hit the spot with a good dose of humor, some light stress, fun adventures, and an awesome narrator who really brings the characters to life. Johnathan McClaine really does an awesome job with it! The main trope of the MC having an alternate path to progression that they must hide while they are weak is extremely common, but this one does some things that are a bit different by making the MC less clueless and more mature than most. There were a few minor plot holes, but nothing really egregious. I will definitely be getting the next book in the series when it comes out!

pretty good 😊

I really enjoyed this. unique skill acquisition, unique world, it had just enough elements of the familure and enough of new ones it meshed well. the plot was not too obvious. it even surprised me a tad bit some. tough for a book to do that. looking forward to book 2

Very bland.

It has a very interesting base concept. But the execution is a bit off. All the actions feel like a lot of grinding. I don't think I have ever zoned out so much from action scenes before.

Narration ruined a pretty good story.

I've listened to a lot of audiobooks and sometimes a narrator just doesn't click, but this is the first time I've been so genuinely baffled at the choices made. The way some lines are read is so exaggerated and out of place, the accents for half the side characters are what I would expect from an amateur Dungeon Master not a professional narrator, and some voices/accents are inconsistent within the same passage.
