The weakest of the series

I was really looking forward to book five but it was a real slog to get through. The Daily Grind is the same ole same ole.
I was hoping they would follow the other character from the last book who went back to her dungeon with the roads, etc.

Instead of dungeon exploration we get mainly administrative tasks, several inner monologues as various characters ponder their existence.
When JD was taken to NY by the FBI to help investigate financial crimes, I was hoping we might follow the character and get a little change of scenery.

I ended up DNF'ing with only three hours left, I just couldn't push myself to care any longer. I doubt I will listen to any additional books in the series.

Can’t wait for #6!

Thank goodness for the epilogue! I can’t wait for the next book to come out, and the story to continue. There are so many possibilities!

Waiting for the next book in the series!

The whole series has been great. Although I think there were many missed chances to maximize gains that the character could have taken.

I struggled a little bit

All of these books are excellent. I’ve enjoyed listening, despite my earlier observation about occasional monotonous sections that felt more like filler than part of the story. I really appreciate the many open storylines still hanging out there—they keep me engaged and curious.

I’m excited for book 6 and would spend a credit right now if it were available. I want to know how Secret is brought back into the fold, what happens with Alanna, and how Ava and her open-road dungeon are integrated into James’ group.

Absolute trash, every minute of it

Hate it. Hope this is the author’s last entry. There is only two points of in the story where “action” happens and it’s boring. The vast majority of the story is a slice of life of middle management. The daily grinds only remarkable quality is that it somehow took a fantasy theme and made it so lame. Like there’s this whole magic world out there but you only see it from the point of view from of a non profit manager. That’s not even counting all the Democratic preaching this series goes on with. Other reviewers comment on it being a slog but my god it’s so much worse than that with just how both boring and stupid they are.
