With the same razor-sharp wit and self-aware charm that captivated readers in Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone and Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect, Ernest Cunningham returns as your delightfully unreliable narrator in Everyone in This Bank Is a Thief. Bringing this story to life, Barton Welch once again delivers a masterful performance, earning the same acclaim that made his narration of the previous books unforgettable.

Ten heists. Ten suspects. A murder mystery only Ernest Cunningham can solve in this delightfully clever and twisty new novel in Benjamin Stevenson’s bestselling series—perfect for fans of Richard Osman and Anthony Horowitz.

I’ve spent the last few years solving murders. But a bank heist is a new one, even for me. I’ve never been a hostage before.

The doors are chained shut. No one in or out. Which means that when someone in the bank is murdered, everyone is a suspect.

I kept thinking I was getting lost, but I wasn't. There are always great characters and I did figure out PART of the story, but that is nice isn't it? I like when I can solve bits and pieces. It means he is providing the clues...fair play.

Maybe lightening strikes only twice. This one is better than his 3rd book in the series, Everyone this Christmas Has a Secret. But it is nowhere near as funny or joyful a discovery as the first two. Too much role-playing. Too many coincidences. Too pretentious, or so it felt. I am sure at least one of Ronald Knox’s “Ten Commandments of Detective Fiction” have been violated. To top it all, narrator still sounds constipated when playing other roles than Ernest's. I also liked Juliette less on this one, although never been a fan.

4 out 5 feels a lot. But 3 maybe going too far as there are still intriguing scenarios/likable characters.

Meh.

You get everything expected from a Benjamin Stevenson book - lots of threading plot lines, plenty of red herrings, and an incredible twist. There was just one suspension of disbelief required of the reader that was just too much to take, but like an unfortunately high concentration of chili pepper flakes randomly bunched up in a single bite of a delicious dish, you power it down to continue to the next bite. Totally worth it!

Loved it!

Everything I love about any novel, much less a mystery. Great characters, dialogue, plot. And since it’s on Audible, exceptional narration.

Best in series!
