Growing up deaf in a family that ignored her caused Nakyra to embrace the silence.
When she meets Rome, she believes she's found the one, and after years of being together, the two decide it's time to finally tie the knot when tragedy hits. Then he comes into the picture, and her whole world is suddenly flipped upside down. No matter how forbidden he might be, she can't seem to ignore the feelings forming for him. Everything she thought she knew is suddenly being tested and leaves her conflicted.
Nakyra's now torn between staying committed or facing new possibilities.

Creed, Creed, CREED! I'd "Yes, Sir" you any day of the week 🤭. The way that man came into Nakyra's life with no expectations or demands and totally changed her world...Now that was a grown A$$ man with a huge heart! I didn't care that their love was taboo and forbidden because their meeting was Kismet, and I was totally here for every second of their story. The way that man put Nakyra back together after years of mental and emotional abuse warmed my heart.
Speaking of abuse, Rome and his trifling, high saditty parents were trash and deserved everything that was happened to them (sorry, not sorry.) It took all of me not to throw my book at the wall and scream with all that gaslighting they were doing. Smh.
I absolutely LOVED how the author tackled Nakyra's hearing disability and spread light on how her being unable to fully hear without her aids did not negatively impact her life. She instead found comfort in the silence. It was sad to hear how her family dismissed her needs growing up but I was glad the author didn't leave her high and dry and gave her a cousin who loved and respected her unconditionally. Also, surrounding her with new people who either knew or weren't afraid to learn ASL was beautiful. Speaking of support system. I'm hoping we get a book about Camila and Dylan because I KNOW there's more there.
I can't give enough praise to the narrator's Sean Crisden and Ja'Air Bush 🥰. I loved them together and their voices were perfect to play the part of and capture the raw emotions of each of the characters.
I Love Seeing A Man Cherish A Woman 💚
